Ascend Career Services is partnering with the Spanish American Civic Association, SACA, to hire a full-time, Second shift, Drug and Alcohol Counselor for their La Casa Halfway House in Lancaster. La Casa Halfway house is the first of its kind in Lancaster County. This 23-bed, all-male, bilingual (Spanish/English), multicultural facility serves individuals ages 18 and older. La Casa provides evidence-based treatment. Transitional services are delivered in individual, family, and group settings. Residents’ length of stay varies based upon need but is typically 3-6 months.
Hours: Sunday-Thursday 1 PM-9 PM.

Primary Function: Provide counseling to individuals and groups to promote optimum mental and emotional health with an emphasis on prevention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides direct individual, group and family therapy; didactic lectures and experiential seminars.
- Assure all elements of the treatment plan and aftercare plan are met and documented.
- Complete discharge summaries on assigned clients
- Acts as a liaison with significant others, referral sources, and other service providers as needed.
- Completes all medical and psychosocial history and evaluations.
- Observes clients daily for changes in any behaviors and reports to Facility Director.
- Helps in treatment planning and interventions.
- Carries a daily client caseload and maintains clinical relationships.
- Documents client progress and makes recommendations regarding discharge.
Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or other related field which includes a practicum in a health or human service agency, preferably in a Drug and Alcohol setting; or
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or other related field and 1 year of clinical experience (a minimum of 1,820 hours) in a health or human service agency, preferably in a Drug and Alcohol setting; or
- An Associate Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, or other related field and 2 years of clinical experience (a minimum of 3,640 hours) in a health or human service agency, preferably in a Drug and Alcohol setting.
- Bilingual in Spanish / English
Certificates, licenses, registrations:
- PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA Criminal Background, FBI clearances; mandated reporter training or able to get if not already obtained.
- CADC – highly preferred
- CPR / First AID or able to get if not already obtained.
