Duties and Responsibilities
- Operates medium and heavy-duty commercial passenger vehicles and buses.
- Transports all university sport teams, students, faculty, and staff as needed; Occasional travel may include short and/or overnight trips for intercollegiate and/or out-of-state events.
- Provides chauffeur and courier services to the campus community when necessary.
- Ensures the operational readiness of equipment and performs basic maintenance and service tasks.
- Ensures passenger safety at all times and resolves passenger issues.
- Schedules and maintains records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, emissions, and all other requirements for Maryland state vehicles.
- Maintains transportation database to ensure proper scheduling of travel requests and rentals of university vehicles (buses, cars, and vans).
- Records and refills vehicle fuel and oil consumptions, mileage, hourly operation, and maintenance activities.
- Loads equipment to transport passengers, delivers equipment, materials and/or documents.
- Ensures operational readiness of all university vehicles by performing basic maintenance; i.e., cleaning, washing, waxing, and disposing of waste (from buses).

Minimum Qualifications

Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
Two years of work-related experience
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of the care and operation of automotive transportation vehicles; skilled in driving through various weather and road conditions; ability to lift heavy objects; assists passengers if needed; demonstrates excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
Conditions of Employment
Candidates must have a clean driving record and avalid Maryland Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passengerendorsement. Candidates will be subject to drug and alcohol education and testing as required under the Federal Highway Administration and the State of Maryland regulations. Any candidate selected for employment may be given a medical examination to determine physical ability to perform the required tasks.
