The Material Handler/Driver uses a box truck or van to deliver and pick up products, parts, materials, etc. and operates stand up reach and sit down forklifts to perform logistics and warehouse functions.
This position is a safety sensitive position and is subject to company drug and alcohol screening including pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Makes deliveries to correct addresses, obtaining signatures and proof of receipt when necessary. Drives to pick up various items as needed.
- Loads, unloads and operates box trucks and vans.
- Uses forklift to load and unload vehicles
- Operates and maintains vehicles in safe and clean condition.
- Picks and fulfills orders for production moving equipment, parts, supplies, etc. to production lines using equipment such as fork truck, carts, pallet jacks, and order pickers
- Uses computer system to look up parts locations
- Maintains safe operation and clean appearance by complying with company operational policies, procedures and standards.
- Ensures delivery vehicles receive basic service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issue to supervisor.
- Communicates and collaborates with shipping and receiving and others across departments and provides excellent customer service externally and internally.
- Maintains clean warehouse and working area
- Returns inventory returning from production to stock
- Demonstrates safe and courteous driving of forklifts and equipment within the facility.
- Other responsibilities as assigned
- At least one year of similar experience
- Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to drive safely.
- One or more years of forklift operation experience with both stand up reach and sit down forklifts. Current certification or ability to be certified upon employment.
- Ability to use navigation tools such as GPS, smart phone apps or web-based or physical maps.
- Ability to follow directions to make deliveries and pickups.
- Ability to maintain logs and records. Some computer skills preferred; data entry a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
