Job Description: Driver Training Coordinator

1st Shift | 8am-5pm | Monday - Friday | Weekends as Needed

Department: Driver Safety Job Status: Full-Time Reports to: Assistant Director of Safety

POSITION SUMMARY

To ensure that Carter Express Inc. has a safe and effective Driver Training program through which the company can develop and refine professional drivers

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Produce, maintain, and monitor in-house curriculum for driver and range trainers.

· Select, train, and monitor performance of all driver and range trainers.

· Establish criteria and evaluate all driver trainers at least annually.

· Ensure the students completing the training program have achieved an acceptable skill level and are able to meet all requirements of the job (Solo driver).

· Evaluate student’s performance for a period of 6 months after graduation.

· Conduct “Train the Trainer” classes and recertification classes as needed to ensure quality of trainers and the program.

· Evaluate quality of students received from specific schools and monitor school curriculum as needed.

· Participate in new driver orientation as needed.

· Participate in new driver orientation as needed.

· Maintain necessary reports as required.

· Supervise, train and monitor all assigned employees.

· Conduct training for operations personnel related to the training program.

· Oversee the camera program by monitoring triggered event videos, counseling the drivers on behaviors and documenting the counseling.

EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED required.

EXPERIENCE:

· Familiar with the FMCSA-part 49 and all applicable regulations and company guidelines.

· Driving experience with valid CDL or willing to obtain.

· Thorough knowledge of operating class 8 equipment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Basic computer skills and abilities to operate and utilize current diagnostic tools. Must have the ability to learn new programs as necessary.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Solid work history and quality craftsmanship. Must be motivated, dependable, and able to focus while having a willingness to successfully function in a team environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

You will need to follow all correct and proper PPE requirements such as but not limited to, wearing a reflective vest, shirt, or jacket, and steel toe shoes or shoe coverings when needed. You will also need to maintain any and all safety certifications and standards necessary as set by management.
