JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Bus Driver
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
STATUS: Part Time - Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
The mission of Chicago Youth Programs (CYP) is to improve the health and life opportunities of at-risk youth. Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager, the Bus Driver will provide safe transportation services for participants in CYP programming.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide drop off and pick-up services to and from designated locations in a safe and courteous manner
• Maintains a cooperative attitude with fellow employees, supervisors, customers, and passengers while always promoting company goodwill
• Establish positive working relationships and communicate effectively with children, staff, administration, parents and members of the community
• Perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections
• Completes all required paperwork (including route change sheets, timesheets, vehicle repair requests) and submits to the appropriate authority in a timely manner.
• Ensures vehicle is properly fueled according to facility procedures.
• Reports any maintenance problems in accordance with Company procedure
• Ensure proper safety precautions and practices while vehicle is under operation
• Keeps the interior of the assigned vehicle clean and presentable.
• Prepares vehicle for inclement weather conditions, including scraping or cleaning windows.
• Confirm First Aid and Road Side Safety Kits are stocked and located
• Confirm fire extinguisher, vehicle registration and proof of insurance are in vehicle before departure
• Ensure vehicle is properly locked and secured at the end of each driving shift
• Adhere to all traffic laws and remain in compliance of traffic regulations at all times.
• Become familiar with emergency procedures, alternate routes, and local hospital locations
• Adhere to all program guidelines
• Immediately report any accidents or vehicle damage to the supervisor.
• Immediately report any incidents involving children to the supervisor and complete incident report
• Reports to duty on time and maintains route on time but in a safe manner.
• Immediately reports any accident or incident per Company policy.
• Informs all appropriate personnel of problems/procedures.
• Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
· At least 21 years of age
· Must have a valid CDL (with passenger endorsement) which has not been revoked or suspended for one or more traffic violations during the last 3 years
· Background and drug screen
· Driving record check
· Demonstrate physical fitness to operate vehicles by submitting to the results of a medical examination conducted by a license physician
· Must be able to effectively speak, read and write in English as applicable to job responsibility.
· CPR/First Aid Certified (or willing to obtain)
PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS:
• Sit for extended periods of time
• Lift, push, pull, and carry tools, objects, or equipment above shoulder level without assistance
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping
• Move up and down stairs easily
