BASIC PURPOSE
This position is responsible for picking up donations from vendors in the community in a timely and orderly manner.
Internal Corps processing of donations picked up from vendors into refrigeration, freezer storage, racks. Coordinating with the Social Services Clerk and the Food Pantry movement of the donated food onto racks for distribution and donating to local farmer expired foods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Pick up donations from vendors and sort.
- Keep schedule up to date with day and time coordinated with vendors.
- Keep Internal Corps clean and organized such as food storage room, appliances, racks, bins, offices, and rooms but not limited too.
- Assist Corps with drop offs and pick up donated foods, red barrels for events, or other needs.
- Assist Corps with Food Drive and Christmas Toy Drive efforts.
- Able to do additional hours from October to January.
- Keep track of mileage, keeping vehicles clean and gas tanks full.
- Report any vehicle repairs that are needed, scheduled maintenance.
- Assist Corps officer with any other duties as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess good organizational skills, including time management and logistical planning.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and receive direction from supervisors.
- Ability to interact with the public in a positive manner presenting oneself with a professional, clean dress and appearance.
- Reliable and dependable, ability to work as part of a team.
- Due to the nature of the work, flexibility is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis, drive, park, load and off-load.
- Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects, reaching overhead, climbing attic stairs.
- Ability to read a map, follow directions, trust with opening building and setting, unsetting alarm, operate telephone, operate hand truck or pallet jack.
- Ability to lift to 50-70 lbs. for positions that require lifting.
- Ability to operate a computer.
- Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
