- Drives a specially equipped van to deliver persons to varied destinations. Assures that wheelchair lifts and tie down equipment are properly operated and that participants/patients are delivered to appointments in a timely manner.
- Ensure cleanliness and functioning of vehicle and vehicle and equipment. Inspects van and maintains it in a clear, orderly, and safe condition. Reports the need for maintenance.
- Follows established schedules, adjusts schedules to meet unanticipated changes, and determines the safest and most efficient pick-up and delivery routes.
- Assists passengers on and off the van in a safe and courteous manner. Deals with medical equipment and any emergencies that may arise.
- Completes documentation as required.
- Asks for assistance when needed.
- Attends and successfully executes required annual driver training courses and participates in mandatory in-service training.
- Is accountable for scope of work and compliance to company policies and procedures.
- Follows all Policies and Procedures and OSHA safety guidelines.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all company procedures, and information about participants, clients or families.
- Handles potentially infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions, and practices standard precautions.
- Participates in and supports Quality Improvement initiatives.
- Participates in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings. Maintains professional affiliations and any required certifications.
- Performs other duties as required or requested.
- Compliance with CMS PACE regulations as they pertain to this role
- Other duties as assigned.
Overtime: As needed based on the demands of the center.
Experience Required: 1 year working with the frail and elderly population
Licensure: Valid driver’s license
Other: Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of safety requirements pertaining to the transportation industry.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Maintains effective working relationships with participants, patients, co- workers, medical staff, and the public.
- Proficient in identifying and recommending problem resolution.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to navigate transportation software.
- Familiar with operation of accessible vehicles.
- Experience with maintenance and oversight of vehicles.
Driver Acceptability Guidelines:
- Two or more at fault accidents within the last three years.
- Three or more moving violations within the last three years.
- License has expired.
- License is suspended.
- One or more major convictions within the last three years. Major convictions include:
- Driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Homicide or assault by a motor vehicle
- Driving a motor vehicle while license is suspended or revoked
- Driving a motor vehicle without the owner’s authority
- Reckless driving
- Speeding 26 mph or more over the speed limit
- Failure to stop and report an accident
- Fleeing or eluding a police officer
Schedule Details: Day Shift. 40 hours weekly. 8:00am - 4:30pm. Monday - Friday. What We Offer:
