Driver (NO Class A needed) Batterie Replacement

The Metropolitan Water District has a need for a Driver who can lift 50 pounds, someone who can be in a truck for 4 plus hours a day and has basic knowledge of AC and DC electricity power, UPS Batteries: 24v and -48v.

(NOTE THIS POSITION IS NOT IN LAKE HAVASU, AZ) 

This position is temporary for up to 6 months.

Project: Preparation for the Desert Microwave Upgrade CIP project installations. DC battery power plant system and rectifiers at each of the microwave sites are required to be upgraded to support the new microwave equipment. There are a total of 23 sites with 384 batteries and 46 rectifiers that need to be removed and installed.

Project Location:

• Gene Pumping Plant, Parker Dam, CA *** (NOTE THIS POSITION IS NOT IN LAKE HAVASU, AZ) ***

Duties include:

• Driving with another from the Gene Pumping Plant (Parker Dam) to the Iron Mountain Pumping Plant (Earp) daily and replacing batteries.
• Driving/Passenger in a truck for 4 plus hours a day.
• Install new battery strings into new battery trays.
• Remove existing batteries from racks to make space for new batteries and trays.
• Ensure all associated items (all the DC cabling & lugs) are secured properly.
• Mobilize to pick up rectifiers, breakers, racks, shelves, and batteries for DC Power system to be installed at designated sites.

Job Requirements:

• This position is a temporary assignment for up to 6 months.
• A valid Driver’s License is (REQUIRED)
• High School Diploma or GED (REQUIRED)
• Schedule: 44/36 Meaning: One week you work 4 (9-hour shifts Monday – Thursday & Friday you work 8 hours). The next week, you work 4 (9-hour shifts Monday – Thursday), and Friday, you are off. (Subject to change)
• Current Forklift certification (A plus)
• Basic knowledge of AC and DC electricity power, UPS Batteries: 24v and -48v
• Basic tools handling skills: screwdrivers, wrenches, cutters, and power tools
• Ability to drive offroad utilities or flatbed vehicles.
