This position is responsible to pick up and secure all donated food and grocery items. This position is also responsible to distribute food and grocery items to our agencies in the 16-county service area.
Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday
Responsibilities:
- Pick up food from local donors as scheduled.
- Unloads donated product to on-site feeding facilities.
- Provides initial donation receipt with proper signatures to donors and recipients
- Provides backup donation receipt daily to Transportation Coordinator for data entry and provides mileage logs, vehicle inspection logs.
- Cleans vehicle as required.
- Insures maintenance of vehicles is accomplished as necessary.
- Keeps current driver license, food handler certification, material handling equipment certification and any other permit/license required to perform duties.
- Always acts as an ambassador of the San Antonio Food Bank when conducting business with donors, potential donors, partner agencies and donation recipients.
- Accept additional duties as assigned.
- High School degree or equivalent
- Valid Class A or B driver license
- Clean driving record
- Forklift/pallet jack certified or ability to get certified
- Able to move, lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Attention to detail, accuracy and the meeting of deadlines
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hand and arms; talk and hear. Employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: The work environment is primarily outdoors and may include food distributions held in inclement weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
