Under general supervision at the full-performance level, this position drives an agency-owned bus or truck between four- and eight-tons gross vehicle weight (GVW) to transport persons, supplies and/or equipment to a predetermined destination. This position may be responsible for routine maintenance and repair of vehicle(s) and basic record keeping duties. This position has some latitude for the exercise of independent judgment. This position will be under the Maintenance Department at the WV Veterans Nursing Facility. This position will be utilized in the Maintenance Department when not driving or dealing with vehicle duties. Performs related work as required.

Training: No formal training required.AND
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience within the last eight (8) years in the operation of a bus, truck, or other similar vehicle with a GVW of four (4) tons or more.
OR
Substitution: Completion of a formal course in truck driving of at least 1,080 clock hours may be substituted for one (1) year of the required driving experience.
Special Requirements: Must possess a valid driver's license. May require a valid commercial driver's license, with the appropriate classifications, endorsements, and restrictions, at the time of hire and must maintain such for duration of employment. Must have a good driving record with no suspension or revocation of driver's license during the past seven (7) years.
