JobSummary

The Dredge Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics,disassembly, inspection, rebuild, and reassembly of asset vessel maintenanceand repairs.  These job dutiesinclude shipyard work, repair to vessels both locally and out of state, and apotential on call schedule. This position includes work for the company and itsrelated entities.  

Operates,inspects, and maintains pumping, dredging, dewatering polymer unit, coarsedebris separator, desander, materials processing site and materials handlingfacilities.

Duties/Responsibilities

Essential job duties and responsibilities include:

        Ensure assets are running optimally through completion ofplanned preventative maintenance, completed and well executed repairs,efficiently managing and completing tasks at hand, and documenting work as percompany procedure. 

        Maintains efficient andclear communication with supervisor on all maintenance processes and needs.

        Responsiblefor performing skilled work in accordance with Federal, State, and local rules andregulations.

        Assists in the operation and maintenanceof power driven and manual dredge equipment required to dredge sediment fromvarious water bodies.

        Inspect and maintains anchors, cables,cutterhead and lays additional lengths of pipes from dredge equipment to Wood Dredgingbanks and/or pumping equipment.

        Inspect and maintains pumping, dredging,dewatering polymer unit, coarse debris separator, desander, materialsprocessing site and materials handling facilities.

        Operates levers to place dredge inposition for excavation, using computer guided systems.

        Knowledge on how to operate ladder and associatedequipment.

        Operates, maintains, and inspects workboat.

        Starts power winch that draws in or letsout cable to change position of dredge or pulls in and lets out cable manually.

        Maintains and repairs motor equipment indredging operations; cleans and changes filters.

        Lubricates and adjusts mechanicalequipment while dredging operations are in progress. Ensures that properpressure and head in line is maintained all times.

        Performs routine inspections andmechanical repairs to dredging and pumping equipment.

        The position requires open mindedness and flexibility regardingscheduling, additional tasks, and variable job functions that may be requiredby the Supervisor.

        Carry out, manage, and oversee the maintenance, correctiveaction, and task completion as assigned.

        Ensure all job duties performed are performed timely andaccurately to ensure continuity of operations within the company and itsrelated entities, as well as within clearly defined expectations. 

        Maintain and updatea status list of ongoing equipment repairs.

        Immediately address gaps in maintenance with Supervisors.

        Work withSupervisor on issues with spare parts, materials and tools, and maintain theinventory of spares.

        Oversee vessel repair work both in the field and at shipyards.

        Maintain knowledge of new applicable laws and regulationsthat apply throughout the company and its related entities. 

        Oversee vendors as needed and as per Supervisors direction.

        Delivers supplies as needed to vessels.

        Performs other duties asassigned.

RequiredSkills/Abilities

        Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

        Effectivelycommunicate, both verbally and in writing, with other individuals, employees, andteams in a business like and professional manner.

        Provenworking knowledge of marine maintenance and repair, shipyard, and bargedegassing facilities is preferred.

        Abilityto ride on ocean-going and inland water vessels, as well as walk and accessvessels and barges, as needed, is required.

        Abilityto be on an on-call rotation to include nights / weekends and work extended hours.

        Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

        Excellent time management skills with a proven ability tomeet deadlines.

        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience

        High School Diploma or equivalentrequired.

        A minimum of 2 years of successfulexperience as a Mechanic is preferred.

        Possess a valid State Driver'sLicense, and a good driving record.

        Possess a valid TransportationWorkers Identification Credential (T.W.I.C.) and Passport or the ability togain one immediately.

        A minimum of two years' experience in a related industry experience preferred.

PhysicalRequirements:

        Abilityto lift and carry 50lbs for extended distances.

        Abilityto work in all adverse weather conditions.

        Abilityto climb ladders, stairs, and gangways up to 25 feet in height.

        Abilityto stoop, kneel, crouch and work above head for extended periods of time.

        Ability to use handsand arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.

        Must be able towithstand prolonged periods of walking and standing.

        Ability to work inconfined spaces.

        Abilityto operate and repair vessels in a safe manner.

Schedule

        Full-Time, 40hrs/week

        Travel estimated at around 60%, will beallowed to travel more if desired.
