Summary Objective
The primary function is to create technical drawings for projects using a computer-aided design program. The Draftsperson will also collaborate with the engineers and contractors of the project, adjusting the plan based on their notes or recommendations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Uses computer-aided design (CAD) software to create 3D and 2D technical drawings.
- Makes changes to technical drafts based on the recommendations of the project engineers.
- Calculates dimensions, weight limitations, and material requirements.
- Outlines the construction process of the project on the technical drawings.
- Ensures designs comply with company regulations and quality standards.
- Prepares diagrams, maps, and layouts to illustrate workflow.
- Associates Degree in Drafting, Engineering or related discipline.
- Two (2) years of experience drafting using AutoCAD software or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Performs sedentary work that involves walking, sitting, or standing for prolonged periods of time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations; light and moderate lifting and carrying.
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
- Indoor and outdoor environments; exposure to office computer screens; exposure to extremes in weather conditions; work around heavy equipment/construction equipment, moving vehicles; exposure to dust, exhaust fumes, depending on assignment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
