Mass General Cancer Center at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is seeking a Dosimetrist to join our practice currently employing three medical physicists, three dosimetrists and working with five Radiation Oncologists. Mass General Cancer Center at WDH is a comprehensive community cancer center offering medical and radiation oncology as well as a broad range of services including palliative care, support and wellness and survivorship programs. The program has grown to be recognized as a center of excellence for medical and radiation oncology across the region with a focus on personalized cancer care. The Mass General Cancer Center at WDH is an ACR accredited facility with two locations, one in Dover and one in Portsmouth, NH. There are currently two Varian True Beams and one Varian Edge, all sister machines. The facility uses Eclipse and Mosaiq. There is a Prostate and GYN HDR program which utilizes Oncentra for treatment planning.
- Use treatment planning system to plan external beam therapy treatments as prescribed by MD
- Generate computerized plans for MD approval
- Provide manual write-up and verification of treatment settings
- Perform weekly chart reviews as directed by Physics Director
- Accurately document dosimetry charges
- Provide and document manual calculations
- Work closely with therapists to ensure optimal delivery of plans
- Serve as resource to therapy, physics, and MD staff on planning systems and issues
- Comforts and educates patients on radiation planning activities
- Represent physics/planning function in simulation when necessary to ensure needed images are captured correctly the first time
- Serve as expert resource to therapists and MDs on planning issues in simulations as appropriate
- Assist patient setup for CT simulation
- Make custom devices for patient treatments
- Participate in selection and oversight of quality measures
- Serve on CQI, Rad Safety, and PI teams as appointed
- Attend monthly physics meeting and actively participate/contribute
- Assist physics in the loading of seeds
- Assist physics in the generation of brachy plans
- Assist physics in other brachy procedures as needed
- Provide inservices when asked for various audiences
- Serve as mentor/preceptor for dosimetrist in training
- Work with RTT to further educate them in dosimetry issues
- Clinical experience associated with formal dosimetry education program or 5 years experience as an RTT.
- 3 to 5 years experience
- R. T. T. or at least Associate of Science.
- Formalized training in dosimetry through an approved program.
