- The Controlled Access Technician is responsible for advanced maintenance related to HVAC and mechanical systems, electrical and plumbing, and safety inspections. Has proficient organizational skills and is familiar with Microsoft Office products. This position will coordinate with public safety/security and understands the role it has in hospital Door Access. Knowledge of all types of electrified door hardware, electric panics, strikes, hinges, locks (cylindrical and mortise), power distribution and relay boards, readers, door position switches, maglocks, motion sensors, etc… Responds to work requests timely and professionally and is able to complete work assignments. The Controlled Access Technician may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary and approved by the Supervisor.

- Education
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred: Trade School in the mechanical and/or electrical fields
- Experience
- Required: 3-5 years related maintenance/mechanical experience
- Preferred: Knowledge of Horton door operators including sliders and associated door hardware.

- Ability to prioritize workload
- Advanced skills necessary to find solutions to equipment malfunctions and initiate necessary repairs.
- Advanced knowledge of the safe operation of all tools used in the performance of duties.
- Advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements governing fire alarm systems, HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, life safety systems, fire doors, and building repairs.
- Demonstrates proficient technical skills for the repair and general maintenance of facilities in the following areas:
- Interior Finishes
- Millwork adjustments and hardware
- Doors, frames, and door hardware
- Plumbing and fixtures
- Electrical wiring, devices, lighting and motors
- Heating systems, ventilation and air conditioning, and cooling towers
- Steam and boilers
- Project coordination with outside vendors and the work meets Fire Codes
- Pressure vessels and associated equipment
- Generators
- Medical gas and vacuum
- Refrigeration units and ice machines
- Air compressors and refrigerated air dryers
- Air handlers, fans, and heat wheels
- Chilled water and condenser pumps
- Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Required: Active Driver's License
- Required: STI Fire Stop Certified must be obtained within 1 year of hire (provided by Cox yearly if not already certified)
- Preferred: Some form of MEP/AAADM Certification from an accredited trade school. Such examples include but are not limited to Vatterott College and Ozarks Technical Community College
- Preferred: Operation of a fork-lift
