POSITION: Decorator
Our Decorators ensure that beautiful donuts are consistently created for our guests. They are responsible for glazing and decorating donuts in an efficient, artistic, consistent and sanitary manner and assist with frying donuts as needed. Decorators are tasked with confirming that the quality of our dough, fillings, glazes and toppings meet Hook & Press’ standards before decorating the donuts to ensure that a stunning final product is presented to our guests.
Shifts Available: Thursday, Friday, Saturday 5:00am-10:00/10:30am, additional shifts as needed

Hook & Press is an artisan shop that focuses on scratch-made, craft donuts as well as a small, thoughtfully curated morning cafe menu. We use high quality ingredients and rotate our donut flavors to showcase the best of what’s in season. Naturally, we avoid artificial ingredients and preservatives wherever possible because our customers deserve the best! We hold our beverage program in as high regard as we do our donuts, serving Santa Barbara-based Coastal Coffee Collective coffee drinks and locally crafted beer and wine. But we firmly believe that what keeps people coming back to Hook & Press is our obsession with providing an outstanding customer service experience. We strive to be a place that welcomes every guest with a smile and serves up good vibes, great drinks and amazing food and donuts each time.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for candidates to join our Pastry team! We want someone who will put forth an extraordinary amount of passion, precise care and exceptional dedication when it comes to creating Santa Barbara’s best donuts. We LOVE to promote from within, so for individuals who are creative and passionate about food and baking, this position can serve as an exciting introduction to the culinary industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Decorate donuts per company standards and instructions
- Understand the breakdown of donut quantities needed for each day
- Being able to maintain a swift decorating pace; follow the quantities on the board and decorate donuts in time for opening
- Communicate with the Lead Pastry Chef to help ensure quantities of prep items that are needed on a daily/weekly basis are being produced
- Consolidate and label containers of glazes, fillings and toppings at the end of the shift
- Ensure cleanliness of work areas, including but not limited to: tables, shelves, microwaves, mixers and floors
- Ensure maintenance of equipment and tools used daily and report any malfunctions to the Lead Pastry Chef immediately
- Complete and submit cleaning checklists at designated times
- Other related responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous kitchen experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to inspire co-workers with a positive attitude

- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, afternoons, weekends and some holidays
- Ability to work in a standing position for the duration of the shift
- Fluency to read and communicate in English
- Food Handler’s Certification (within 30 days of hire)
