The Donors Relations Specialist will be responsible for managing and supporting initiatives aimed at elevating the donor experience at USF. These initiatives include but are not limited to stewardship opportunities that incorporate general and personalized acknowledgements, narrative and financial impact reports, and unique and exclusive donor experiences. The Donor Relations Specialist will work in close collaboration with colleagues, build partnerships across the Development division and with other University staff across campus to coordinate and deliver unique and meaningful donor opportunities. Attention to detail, stakeholder management, experience and skill in navigating and understanding databases and donor records, executing thoughtful and goal-driven segmentation, and the ability to make independent decisions is essential.
- Lead the writing and coordinate sending of standardized and customized acknowledgement letters to the university's donors
- Produce customized financial and narrative impact reports
- Maximize effectiveness of stewardship communications, building templates and tools where necessary to ensure efficiency and consistency
- Prepare and execute individualized stewardship plans and comprehensive stewardship reports, and respond to ad-hoc stewardship requests, drawing on emerging trends and best practices in donor engagement and stewardship
- Manage and interpret data to support smart decision making in segmentation and Donor Relations practices
- Support management of USF giving societies and associated benefits and experiences, including conducting regular audits and donor surveys to ensure that benefits and experiences are meaningful and incentivize continued support
- Research and share ideas for innovative, unique and personalized stewardship communications and experiences
- Implement stewardship for events, special initiatives and campaigns
- Make updates in CRM and utilize appropriate tools to extract data and information in support of Donor Relations projects
- Actively participate in inclusion, diversity, equity, action, and access learning opportunities to support an inclusive, diverse, an engaged work environment
- Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications and desired knowledge, skills, & experience:
- Bachelor's degree, with a preference for degree in liberal arts or relevant field
- Minimum of three years of progressively responsible development experience in an academic or non-profit environment
- Exceptional written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence and an ability to effectively build partnerships with diverse groups of people, both internal and external
- Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions while working independently with minimal supervision, while also displaying an enthusiasm for teamwork and the confidence to ask questions
- Project management experience
- Database and/or CRM experience, Salesforce preferred
- Demonstrated attention to detail including exceptional proofreading and organizational and deadline management skills
- Understanding of and respect for confidential information and the ability to apply sound judgement in all situations
- The ability to shift energy and focus as the priorities and demands of the position and team may dictate
