Donation Processor - Part-Time - Thrift Store

The Donation Processor is responsible for receiving, sorting, cleaning, pricing, and preparing donated items for display in the Thrift Store. This person assists the Senior Donation Processor in maintaining the interior of the store, warehouse, and off-site storage. (Part-time--must work Saturdays).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. One to two years retail/resale experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have a valid Florida Driver License
• Must be able to regularly lift/move up to forty (40) pounds and occasionally lift/move up to one hundred (100) pounds with assistance
• Ability to manage multiple tasks or donations effectively
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to sort items based on established donation processing guidelines and procedures
• Ability to determine condition of items and fairly price items based on established donation processing guidelines and procedures
• Ability to work independently
• Must be able to efficiently coordinate and assist volunteers
• Maintain sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain current knowledge of the entire process of donation processing to include picking up and transporting donated items, issuing non-cash receipts to donors, and assisting with incoming calls in regards to scheduling local non-cash pickups or deliveries.
• Maintain strong communication skills when assisting all customers and donors
• Receive, sort, price, and display donated items using established donation processing guidelines and procedures
• Work with volunteers in the resale shop and warehouse ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, processes, and displays
• Maintain hanging and shelving displays and fixtures in the show room
• Ensure that displays are attractive, neat, and orderly—including rotating and re-stocking store merchandise in order to ensure quick item turnover
• Determine fair pricing of items based on established donation processing guidelines and procedures
• Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area and public bathrooms
• Sweep and mop all floors and wash storefront windows
• Prepare items for pickup by salvage company
• Coordinate items for dumping
• Pick up and transport donated items and items purchased for delivery in the Thrift Store box truck as needed
• Assist with storage and transportation of items in off-site storage facility
• Assist management in backing up the Customer Service Representatives as needed
• Represent the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home in a positive manner to donors, customers, and the general public

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
