Domestic Violence Projects Specialist

Program Overview:

The mission of the nationally-accredited New Orleans Health Department (NOHD) is to promote, protect, and improve the health of all in our community through equitable policies, programs, and partnerships. As a part of this mission, NOHD serves as the City’s office for Domestic Violence and sexual assault, working to address Domestic Violence as a public health issue and recognizing the interconnections of Domestic Violence with other forms of violence. The Domestic Violence Special Projects Manager will support this mission by coordinating projects related to Domestic Violence.

Job Responsibilities:

The Domestic Violence Special Project Manager is responsible for coordinating the City’s comprehensive response to addressing intimate partner and Domestic Violence.

· Work with partner agencies to coordinate approaches to addressing Domestic Violence incidents and achieve outcomes that promote community health.

· Support partner agencies to develop best practices and polices for working with individuals affected by Domestic Violence, and provide and support training and technical assistance for partner agencies and professionals working in related fields. Maintain good working relationships with partner agencies as well as related City departments and personnel.

· Lead coordination of NOHD’s Domestic Abuse Fatality Review Team.

· Lead coordination and implementation of NOHD’s Advocacy Initiated Response Program.

· Oversee the City’s criminal legal system coordinated community response to domestic and intimate partner violence, including coordinating multi-disciplinary case reviews, task forces, and other related meeting groups and projects as necessary.

· Coordinate with other City departments and offices in order to unify the City’s approach to Domestic Violence.

· Develop and coordinate new initiatives and pilot programs that reflect best practices in responding to Domestic Violence.

· Conduct regular evaluation of projects and produce reports to demonstrate effectiveness of approaches and programs.

· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of dynamics of Domestic Violence and approaches, with a focus on topics relating to best practices, equity, and the disparate impact of policies.

· Work closely with the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Program Director to support and guide the priorities of the Health Department in addressing Domestic Violence as a public health issue.

· Recruit, train and manage volunteer support to leverage existing resources.

· Work in public health emergencies as part of the Health Department’s emergency response, and support the department with other projects as needed.

· Perform other related duties as necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $59,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
