Qualifications and Skills:
Previous experience working with individuals in a crisis setting or social services preferred. Professional training may be substituted for experience. Must have a valid Florida driver’s license.
- Primary Job Duties include:
- Conduct interviews and crisis intervention with victims of Domestic Violence crimes in order to determine needs and explore options.
- Assess lethality and conduct safety planning with victims of crime on a case-by-case basis.
- Assist victim with a case plan (give information and referrals, transport to appointments).
- Complete victim compensation forms and legal referrals as needed and provide other information as needed.
- Maintain contact with other advocates regarding shelter issues and victims’ case plans.
- Maintain counseling forms and statistics on all victims of crime in accurate, complete files.
- Complete monthly statistical forms.
- Attend meetings and trainings as scheduled.
Qualifications and Skills:
- One year of crisis intervention experience is preferred.
- Formal education in counseling or social work is preferred.
- Training in Domestic Violence issues and crisis intervention may substitute for formal education at the discretion of CASA.
- Knowledge of the dynamics and effects of Domestic Violence.
- Ability to show caring and empathy toward survivors of Domestic Violence.
- Ability to provide effective and immediate crisis intervention for participants.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
- Ability to establish and maintain personal boundaries.
- Ability to communicate positively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to keep concise, accurate records.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Must be able to work with a culturally diverse community with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Agree to drive agency vehicles as needed.
- Ability to function independently and work cooperatively as a member of a team.
- Must possess a valid Florida State Driver’s License.
- Possess the ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
- Must be able to pass criminal background screening upon employment.
Shift: Wednesday - Friday 3pm-11pm and Saturday & Sunday 6pm-2am
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.45 per hour
