JOB TITLE:Play Yard Coach
JOB TYPE: Full Time as Coach / Hotel Runner roles combined.
Pay Scale: $14.50 - $20.00 DOE – We compensate solely by knowing our business and all our policies & procedures – Industry experience big plus. Do NOT assume to hire in at high or middle of scale. Prove yourself and we compensate accordingly.

| GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Play Yard Coaches provide all guidance and counseling on matters related to the dogs in the facility. They will advise on the Free Greet & Treats (temperament evaluations) as well as creating our daily play group lists based on all the dogs in the facility and how they mingle with one another.
Play Yard Coaches are responsible for creating incident reports, taking daily photos or videos for client report cards, and documenting any important information about the dogs. The Play Yard Coach is required to know how to appropriately use toys in the Play Yard for mental stimulation and exercise as they are to be an active participant while in the yard. They are also responsible for the cleanliness and overall safety of the Play Yard space. Play Yard Coaches should always clean up messes as soon as they occur and must always supervise in the yard. They are the eyes, ears, and voice to make sure all dogs are always the safest.
The Hotel Runner role is multifaceted. They will aid Play Yard coaches and front desk by running dogs to and from those areas. The Hotel Runner is responsible for cleaning and keeping the entire facility clean and sterile, which is critical to the success of this position. Every dog’s suite or crate is to remain clean throughout their shift and no stool or urine should ever be left on a dog. This position requires accurate and updated notes to be kept on each dog and basic health checks should be performed frequently.
| DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES
  • Ability to lead a pack of dogs and be creative in the yard to keep them active and engaged throughout the day.
  • Comfortable with heavy and strenuous cleaning and understand its’ importance. This can include cleaning suites, Play Yards, turf, lifting heavy items, dishes, laundry, and other applicable tasks.
  • Must be comfortable with dogs of ALL sizes. Dogs can be noisy, messy, and difficult to handle at times so the ability to provide appropriate corrections to the dogs as needed without the use of force is essential. As well as, able to stand, walk, move, and engage with the dogs for the entire shift.
  • Perform all dog-to-dog Greet & Treats and Re-Evaluations. Will be responsible for either approving or denying a dog’s evaluation. Reports accurately the status of why a dog did or did not pass.
  • Have an energetic, outgoing, upbeat personality and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Basic understanding of Pet Emergency Response tactics and the ability to use them quickly and efficiently in the event of an emergency.
  • Providing excellent customer service when needed.
  • The ability to learn and adapt on the go and be willing to take on other positions or duties as needed by the business.
  • Other duties as assigned.
| QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must not be allergic to dogs.
  • Able to hear, learn and understand auditory behaviors from dogs.
  • Able to visually observe, interpret, and react appropriately to dog body language.
  • Able to work in a loud environment. (ear plugs provided)
  • Able to work and handle dogs with various energy levels, behaviors, and ages.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast paced, high energy level environment.
  • Able to remain calm, under control and organized.
  • Actively participate in staff training exercises, when necessary, learn with a hands-on approach, ask questions when something is unclear and approach everything with a “can-do”, positive attitude.
  • Able to utilize It’s A Dog’s Life required technology, such as e-learning software, apps, and other applicable platforms.
  • There is a 90-day probationary period where you will be expected to maintain and adhere to all our policies and procedures and our attendance policy. You will be terminated without notice if you cannot comply.
  • Reliable transportation despite weather conditions. (we are open 365 days a year)
  • Weekend AND Holiday availability. Holiday availability is REQUIRED.
  • Within 30 days: non-slip shoes are required.
  • Within 90 days: Animal CPR/First Aid Certification is required to be completed.

| PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Able to lift and carry dog food and supplies. (estimated 50+lbs)
  • Able to walk and/or stand for the entire designated shift.
  • Able to walk and handle dogs ranging in size/weight. (10lbs – 150+lbs)
