Dog Walker (Daily)

Heaven Sent Pet Care is a professional pet care company that has been serving the Evanston, Wilmette, and Kenilworth areas for 22 years. We are hiring caring, dependable and trustworthy pet lovers to join our dynamic team. We offer flexible ongoing part-time positions that work well as supplemental income.

We are currently hiring for DAILY DOG WALKERS.

Our "Daily Dog" walking services are typically performed Monday through Friday between between the hours of 10am-3pm. We do private visits/walks for our clients, and most are 25 minutes long. We will work with our walkers to find a time frame and amount of visits per day that works with them and their schedule. It is our preference that Daily Dog candidates are available during our busiest time frame between 11a-3pm Monday through Friday, and that classes or other jobs do not conflict with that time period.

Consistent and predictable work:

Unlike with impersonal and inflexible dog-walking dot-com companies, our Daily Dog walkers have the same group of dogs to work with and can count on how much work they will have. Typically, we will start out walkers with a shorter route and build up the route as we are able and as the walker is comfortable. Most of our current walkers complete between 4-8 visits daily.

Pay rate:

The rate walkers are paid a percentage of the client's fees and ranges between $8 - $10 per 25-minute visit (equivalent averages to around $16-$20 per hour).

Is this a good fit for you? We are looking for candidates who:

• Love Animals! You don't need prior animal work experience, but should enjoy providing companionship and exercise to dogs with a focus on safety

• Enjoy being outside in all four seasons and the weather that comes with them! (Rain, snow, heat, cold, wind...)

• Live near our service area: Because Heaven Sent does not compensate for travel time/commute, we are mainly interested in candidates who live in or near one of our service areas (Wilmette, Evanston, or Kenilworth).

• Provide excellent customer service through personalized notes, photos, and messages

• Enjoy walking and are able to handle the activity level of walking dogs for 2-6 hours per day (you choose the amount). Most of our current walkers complete between 4-8 visits daily.

• Have strength to safely control dogs of all sizes and breeds and to manage 2 dogs at a time (from one household)

Qualifications needed:

• Background & References: You need to be at least 21 years old, able to pass a background/criminal check, and have at least 3 references.
• Dog Handling Skills: You need to have excellent dog-handling skills and intuition and strength to control dogs of all sizes and breeds.
• Physical Requirements: You need to be able to handle the activity level of walking dogs for 2-6 hours per day (you choose the amount).
• Supplies & Equipment: You need to have: (1) a reliable insured automobile and a valid driver's license (2) a smartphone (with data plan to use our scheduling app throughout your workday)

• Location: Because Heaven Sent does not compensate for travel time/commute, we are mainly interested in candidates who live in or within 10-15 miles of one of our service areas (Wilmette, Evanston, or Kenilworth).
