Job description

Smart Cookie Barkery is a boutique Dog Treat manufacture in Golden, CO. Our company is currently seeking a skilled and experienced individual to work on the Dog Treat Production line and manufacture and package various types of Dog Treats. We are looking for someone that is motivated, creative, works well in a fast paced environment, enjoys working in a food service facility, and a dog lover is a plus! If you’ve got experience in kitchens, bakeries, factories, or other high-volume food production environment, this could be the perfect role for you.

The ideal candidate will have food service experience, a proven track record with high-volume food production, excellent communication skills, handles pressure well, is able to work in a fast-paced environment, and is a true team player. You’ll be working with Owners and other Team Members to ensure that all objectives and goals of the bakery are met and exceeded. Abide by the strictest standards of physical and food safety, freshness, and sanitation. Opportunity for position advancement based on performance.

DAY SHIFT: 8 AM – 5 PM | Monday – Friday.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

Mixing, forming, baking and cutting & Packaging artisan Dog Treats from scratch.
Follow Smart Cookie’s production standards for assigned station and tasks.
Follow Smart Cookie’s Good Manufacturing Procedures for cleanliness, safety, and sanitation of the facility.
Ensure safe quality pet treats are produced within the required time.
Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and responsible for understanding our quality management program including SQF & HACCP.
Maintain cleanliness of the production areas. (Expect every shift to include one to two hours of cleaning duties.) Able to effectively breakdown machinery for daily cleaning and preventative maintenance as needed.
Strong organizational skills along with the ability to recognize priorities.
Extremely organized, have solid attention to detail, and solid knowledge of food standards.
Other duties as assigned.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Prep Work: Grind various meats, mill grains, and fill ingredient bins as necessary.
Mixing: Mix ingredients into industrial mixer according to recipes and guidelines specified. Maintain an organized and clean area. Complete batch and production records.
Extrusion Line: Load dough into extruder and use machine to sheet dough onto pans and/or cut into pieces. Clean work area “as you go” to maintain an organized and sanitary production area.
Oven & Cutting: Load and unload sheet trays into and out of the oven. Cut treats as specified per treat type. Load into drying racks. Repeat process.
Dishes & Cleaning: Assist in daily and maintenance cleaning of the kitchen and supporting equipment or production wares, doing dishes, wiping & sanitizing work areas, carts, walls, sweeping, moping, dispose of waste. Accurately fill out sanitation logs and seek production lead for inspection.
Assist: Assist team members and Production Lead in any other tasks as necessary, and assist in insuring production schedule stays on time.
Packaging: Accurately weight finished product into stand-up and bags, using a packaging machine, expiration labeling and sealing. Fill and tape case boxes. Stack on pallets and prepare for storage.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience working in a high-volume production environment.
1-3 years restaurant, bakery, or food factory experience required.
Experience working in SQF certified facility a plus.
Follows production dress code standards and maintains good personal hygiene.
Well-developed manual dexterity and fine motor skills for a bakery.
A passion for creation, a positive attitude, and self starter.
Proficient problem-solving skills and basic math.
Ability to adapt to change and high pressure situations.
Must be able to work and succeed in a fast paced environment.
Maintain regular, consistent attendance & punctuality.
Able to communicate clearly with others while maintaining a positive working environment.
Monday-Friday, dayshift hours (8am-5pm).

PHISICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

In this position there is a lot of walking, standing and bending.
Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
The ability to handle physical requirements, including repeated bending, stretching, twisting and lifting.
Lifting 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally (assisted lifting).
Operating production line equipment.
There is exposure to extreme temperatures (cold and hot).
There is exposure to dust and food allergens.
There is exposure to strong scents.
This position requires working with large machinery, sharp production tools and objects, in addition to heavy items. Must be able to comply with all safety specifications and adhere to training protocols.
