PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To support the needs of Service Dogs in Training (SDiT) on their journey throughout the program by providing guidance to Volunteer Trainers. (VT)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
SDiT 6 Month Evaluations
- Schedule 6 Month Evaluations with all eligible dogs in the SDiT Program
- Conduct 6 Month Evaluation and provide feedback to VT of things to work on, what went well, etc.
- Complete paperwork associated with 6 Month Evaluation and document in Salesforce
Adoption Intake, Scheduling & Appointments
- Respond to phone call and email inquiries about the adoption program/process
- Review adoption applications and approve/deny
- Notify individuals at the top of the list to ensure that applicants are ready for placement
- Take part in weekly adoption meetings & update Salesforce with information regarding why a dog has been released from the program
- Communicate with VTs when dogs have been released from the program
- Review applicants on waiting list to determine best fit for dog(s) available
- Contact applicants when a dog is available for them to come and meet
- Maintain and send scheduling link for potential adopters to make an appointment to come to 4 Paws and meet the available dog
- Prepare for adoption appointments by getting to know the dogs available for adoption through weekly interactions such as walks and playtime (if dog is onsite)
- Exercise/potty/inspect the dog prior to appointment to ensure that the dog is clean and ready to introduce to the potential adoptive family
- Conduct adoption appointment, collect payment, and document in Salesforce
SDiT Support Case Management
- Creating/maintaining SDiT Support Cases for SDiTs/VTs that would benefit from one on one, focused support with working on behavior issues
- Initiate/document plans and bring them to the SDiT weekly meetings
- Take part in weekly SDiT meetings to discuss SDiT cases and further plans for SDiTs within the program
- Conduct initial in person or virtual meetings to provide up front support and provide follow up support until the goal for the SDiT has been reached or further determinations for the SDiT has been made
Lead/instruct additional support SDiT Clinics
Skills and Abilities:
Must Have:
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Competency in utilizing computer programs for accurate record-keeping and efficient communication

- Ability to work in an environment catering to dogs

Education and Experience
Must Have:
- Completion of high school or equivalent (GED)
- Experience working as an active member of a team
- Experience with dog care/handling
Nice to Have
- Possession of positive Dog Training/dog behavior credentials or certifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Physical Ability/Work Environment
Capable of safely lifting objects weighing up to 45 pounds and safely handling, holding, and restraining active dogs weighing up to 110 pounds.
Employees are encouraged to seek assistance when lifting dogs or objects exceeding 45 pounds in weight.
Ability to maintain extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and/or stooping on hard surfaces while on one's feet.
