Dock Hands

Summary of Position:

To perform the day-to-day activities of the boat rental operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

§ Carries out Morning and end of day check list.

§ Clean boats, grounds, docks and bathrooms.

§ Pumps fuel and maintain accurate fuel records.

§ Walks the dock and looks for chafed dock lines or loose lines or cords in the water.

§ Informs management of any upcoming leaves of absence from work so proper scheduling can be arranged.

§ Informs administrative assistant of any commitments that may take you from your work site so proper coverage can be arrange.

§ Performs routine maintenance on the following items:

a. Boats

i. Make clean and presentable and trash free.

ii. Secure all boats at the end of the day

iii. Properly tied so they do not scratch any boats next to them or go under the dock.

§ Works with other staff members to remove all trash, garbage, batteries and miscellaneous debris is clear of the marina walkways and dock areas and direct clients to the proper refuse receptacle.

§ Notifies management of any damage incurred by visiting customers so proper fees may be collected by the office.

§ Removes extraneous trash and debris from the docks and walkways.

§ Notifies receptionist or dock master when taking lunch to ensure proper staffing

§ Other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time.

Minimum Requirements:

§ Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

§ Ability to Clean with attention to detail

§ High School Diploma

§ High comfort level around water

§ Skill in line handling

§ Ability to drive a boat

§ Ability to swim

§ Ability to work in summer heat for extended periods of time.

Supervisory Responsibility:

None

Working Conditions:

§ Pull, haul, lift, and carry at least 40 pounds.

§ Working with various cleaning solutions.

§ Frequently boarding boats

§ Exposure and refueling of boats

§ Ability to work in summer heat for extended periods of time.

§ Driving and demonstrating use of boats
