We are seeking a Divisional Controller to become an integral part of our team! You will oversee financial activities, as well as identify areas of improvement to increase efficiency.
Langerman Construction is a contracting company specializing in full scale renovations and construction for multi-family housing. We are a growing business looking for a motivated individual to join our dynamic team.
Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
- Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- · Ensures accuracy and efficiency of the accounting systems while properly managing transactions and financial reporting.
- · Complete monthly close, account reconciliations and year-end closing process.
- · Prepare timely company financial statements and review for accuracy and clarity.
- · Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- · Oversee/enter/update of production budgets and owner change orders.
- · Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
- · Manage tax compliance for various state, local and federal taxes including sales and use tax, property, and excise taxes. Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
- · Customer invoicing /pay application preparation along with lien waivers, sworn construction statements, including any additional client and or lender specific forms.
- · Process and timely payment of vendor invoices and management of vendor relationships.
- · Oversee and approve certified payroll as applicable.
- · Prepare percentage of completion revenue recognition and weekly Work in Process report
- · Prepare GCCC audit schedules and job cost reports as required by contract.
- · Manage issuance of insurance certificates to clients and lenders as required by contract. Oversee issuance of vendor insurance certificates and renewals. Review liability and workers compensation insurance audits.
- · Assist sales and/or CFO with client documents including but not limited to HUD forms, financing forms and contracts.
- · Special projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- · Effective problem-solving skills
- · Self-starter with a positive attitude and ability to be part of a team culture.
- · Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with all levels of management.
- · Strong computer skills in a Windows environment and job cost accounting software
- · Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions.
- · Experience with subcontract agreements, lien waivers and job cost analysis.
- · Experience with construction accounting, percentage of completion and WIP reporting.
- · Strong work ethic and effective organizational and management skills
- · Ability to maintain a high degree of integrity and confidentiality.
- · Ability to become Notary Public, if not already.
Job Type: Full-time
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting (Preferred)
Experience: 5 Years of Accounting and 2 years of construction accounting experience required
