KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the monthly accounting and close processes for the largest Group within Heritage Distribution (over $300 million dollar revenue) than spans across several locations.
  • Help ensure data integrity and efficient utilization of the current ERP data system, Epicor Eclipse. Support ERP implementations at newly acquired businesses, if applicable.
  • Facilitate reductions in the time to close the books with a target of closing within three business days after the end of the month.
  • Develop a formal monthly account reconciliation process and support software implementation for dashboarding status and results.
  • Responsible for supporting the annual audit, and providing information to external auditors.
  • Develop rigorous and effective financial control processes. Assist in the design and documentation of internal accounting policies and governance procedures. Ensure the business maintains and enforces technical compliance to IFRS and US GAAP standards, as appropriate.
  • Support the integration strategy of the business. Help transition to having robust systems and procedures on par with the best public companies.
  • Work with leadership to integrate various organizations, policies and procedures and cultures into a cohesive organization. Ensure a culture that stresses ethics, integrity, and thoughtful governance within the department.
  • Manage ad-hoc analyses and special projects as requested by the CFO and Corporate Controller.

The Controller must be a proven results-oriented leader who can help drive the business through a period of significant growth and transformation. The successful candidate will focus on enhancing the accounting function and developing robust processes and controls that support an environment of accelerated growth. The position will lead a small team of accountants and will have the opportunities to work directly with the local Leadership team. This high-visibility role will be well positioned to take on increasing leadership and responsibility as the business continues to grow.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

CPA and experience in both public accounting and industry is strongly desired.

  • Ideally, the candidate will have audit experience in an accounting firm and experience working in the accounting department of a multi-national corporation with an established track record of increasing job responsibilities. Experience in a Distribution business is desired but not a requirement. Experience with IFRS reporting is highly desirable.

Development of Internal Control Environment and Audit support

  • Experience developing / improving Internal Controls and Accounting policies / procedures. Proven track record of process improvement. Experience playing a key client role in the audit process.
