Diversity Coordinator

Job Description

Davis Behavioral Health is actively recruiting for a part-time Diversity Coordinator. This position serves as a liaison between the community and Davis Behavioral Health and is responsible to assist in removing barriers to treatment for culturally diverse populations and implementing initiatives appropriate to organizational values, goals, and strategic priorities. This role will lead and provide guidance in the development of projects, processes and solutions that will help the organization become more diverse, equitable and inclusive.

Essential Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Develop, implement, and monitor programs and processes that promote and sustain diversity and equity.
• Assist in improving community-wide engagement with diverse populations.
• Design, coordinate, and facilitate diversity and equity community outreach, presentations, learning opportunities and other strategies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Review, recommend, and implement policies, regulations and procedures that address issues of disproportionality, diversity, and cultural competency
• Serve as a coordinator and liaison to develop mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships with community organizations that surround issues of equity.
• Participate on the organization's cultural competency committee
• Provide assistance, advice, coaching and consultation to Davis Behavioral Health employees, community organizations and state/local government groups regarding cross-cultural competency.
• Develop, coordinate, and lead equity, diversity, and inclusion consistent with the strategic plan to include the facilitation and inclusion of community stakeholders

Compensation

The starting pay for this position will be $18-22 per hour based on directly related experience.

Classification and Schedule

This position is classified as part-time, non-exempt with an expectation to work 20 hours per week. Hours for this position are flexible as long as the Diversity Coordinator is able to meet all agency and community obligations.

Location

The Diversity Coordinator works primarily in the community; however, office space will be made available within a DBH facility.

Required Experience

Preference will be given for candidates who have a bachelor's degree. Prior experience working in a similar role may be substituted for education.

• Demonstrated cultural competency and ability to work with diverse groups of people.
• Experience in facilitating group discussions.
• Demonstrated skills in organizing ideas.
• Ability to identify problems and their resolutions.

The selected candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening.

Part-time positions at DBH are not eligible to participate in the agency's benefits program.

Further, all employees at DBH must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check as part of DBH's licensing agreement with the State of Utah. DBH will not hire individuals currently using illegal drugs or abusing alcohol; therefore, making employment at DBH conditional upon successfully passing pre-employment drug screening by providing a valid sample. Candidates who are offered employment are required to report for a drug screen at an Intermountain WorkMed location within 24 hours of being requested to do so by the DBH Human Resources Department.
