Marshall Public Schools is seeking applications for the position of Grounds Keeper. This position is located District Wide.
Job Summary: Perform maintenance on Marshall Public Schools buildings, grounds, and equipment. Assist in setup and take down of athletic events. Assist in managing seasonal help.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license, restrictions preventing the operation of district equipment is not allowed.
- Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
- Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years' experience in ground maintenance and upkeep.
- Practical knowledge of turf care, soil, fertilizers, etc.
- Experience in athletic field layout and set up.
- Knowledge of proper chemical application and ability to become certified (Chemical Applicators Certification).
Working Conditions:
Inside and outdoors. Climatic Environment: Occasionally subjected to extremes of temperature, noise and vibrations. Atmospheric conditions occasionally include fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases and poor ventilation. Occasionally protective devices used are respirators and special clothing. Hazards: Occasionally subjected to mechanical and electrical hazards as well as radiant energy. Caution also required avoiding potential for burns.
Salary/Contract: Starting at $20.45 per hour. This position is 8 hours per day, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekends. This position is for the day shift, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
