District Network/Telephone Technician
8 Hrs/Day, 260 Day Year,2023-24 School Year
8:30 am - 5:00 pm (hours may be flexible)

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
The District Computer Technician performs a variety of duties to help maintain and upgrade the district data and communications network including computer workstations, computer printers, Chromebooks, Ipads, and other peripheral devices. The Technician will need flexibility in the work schedule due to the possibility of late hours, on occasion, if there is an evening event at the district office. The Technician will report directly to the Director of Finance and Operations. This position is subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, SEIU Local 925.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and install computer hardware, software, peripherals and upgrades at all district sites.
  • Work with staff to provide routine preventative maintenance for voice and data systems.
  • Install operating systems and application software on new and existing computer systems in both stand-alone and networked environments.
  • Manage all user and computer accounts in Windows and GSuite environments.
  • Manage email accounts for both staff and students in Google workspace environment.
  • Install and manage printers in cloud printing environment of Google workspace.
  • Work to ensure compatibility between software and hardware systems.
  • Assist librarians, computer lab assistants and other district staff in related support tasks.
  • Maintain records such as technology inventories and mapping of network topologies
  • Gather information regarding district technology required by government agencies.
  • Assist Superintendent's Office with freedom of information act records requests.
  • Attend in-service training as required to keep technical skills up to date.
  • Provide assistance where possible to help staff and students make the best use of available district technology.
  • Good attendance is essential.
  • Serve as a key member of the district technology committee.
  • Create and present annual technology reports to the school board.
  • Respond timely to technical support requests from staff.
  • Provide training to staff and students on the use of technology.
  • Check District email at least twice per day.
  • Check District ticketing system (FMX) at least twice per day.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated basic performance skills in Mac OS, Windows 10, ChromeOS, computer maintenance, and basic networking. Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relations and in written and oral communications. Should be free of any physical impairments that would prevent functioning on the job in tight places.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and two years (90 quarter hours) of accredited college courses preferred.
  • Two years of computer support service experience, which shall include installing operating systems and application software, performing diagnostic and troubleshooting
  • In-depth working knowledge of software and hardware systems configurations for all Apple and Chromebook devices is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot computer problems and accurately determine solutions required.
  • Familiarity with a variety of utility software applications and the concepts of their functioning required.
  • Demonstrated ability to set up new hardware and new software following the technical instructions given in manuals and through telephone or on-line technical support required.
  • Demonstrated ability to use the internet as a source of technical support and information required.
  • Experience with basic account management for Windows and Google Workspace administration for both users and computer objects.
  • Experience with cloud printing in Google Workspace environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep detailed, accurate records required.
  • Working knowledge of VoIP, Windows 10 and above, MAC OS, iOS, and ChromeOS required.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal relations preferred.
  • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communications preferred.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lift 50 lbs. waist high required.

Salary Range: 2023-24 Salary Range $26.81 - $32.97 per hour, depends on school district experience
