Job description

The role of the Distribution Manager is to assist the Sr, Manager and Director of Ops. in overseeing all aspects of the Distribution operations performing receiving, picking, packing, replenishment, and shipping functions.  This includes meeting all assigned goals and objectives relating to production deadlines, production quality management, financial expense controls, customer service communications and personnel management.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work to achieve all financial expense objectives.
  • Manages and ensures facility security and closures with support from Supervisors.
  • Assists to oversee nightly janitorial services.
  • Assists to oversee on site security staff.
  • Reports any down time or facility maintenance requests that occur on shift.
  • Investigates errors and corrects staff on procedures.
  • Manages staffing to meet demands in pick module and other outbound areas.
  • Oversees the processes of international documentation as needed and oversees international shipping.
  • Oversees all Building support staff.
  • Monitors productivity, attendance, safety, and accuracy of staff, along with making appropriate corrections to deficiencies.
  • Oversee and deliver Monthly Safety Topic
  • Proactively seek new ways of saving additional time and expenses in processes.
  • Contributes to 5S and Process Improvement Initiatives.
  • Ensures Work Instructions are being managed for ISO compliance, as well as competency training records.
  • Meet all assigned projects and deadlines.
  • Complete projects on time with good quality and in accordance with budgetary demands.

 

  • Level of Service/Quality Management
    • Meet all prescribed distribution timetables and objectives.
    • Proactively communicate with distribution management and inside team members when distribution lead-times change.
    • Identify and communicate any/all distribution problems to the Distribution Management and Customer Service Teams.
    • Maintain all warehouse distribution machinery and preventative maintenance schedules.

 

  • Maintain adequate supplies for the production floors, including supply back stock, in order to increase production efficiencies.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring and maintaining detailed procedures for all distribution team members.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring and maintaining all comprehensive training and certification programs for employee development.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring and maintaining all quality standards and production audit procedures, including audit performance reporting.
  • Maintain tight lines of communications with Custom Shop, Inventory Control and Inbound/Outbound team members as needed.
  • Strictly monitor safety procedures for all employees. Report and follow up on any/all safety violations, injuries and potential hazards.
  • Assist in developing and executing the department’s overall staffing strategies.
  • Ensures that company policies and procedures are adhered to by staff.
  • Monitor and report on all employee attendance and production performance.
  • Coordinate and document all functional training of department personnel.
  • Assist in developing, monitoring, and maintaining cross training programs.
  • Conduct periodic 1:1’s to review individual team member’s performance in the following areas:
    • Attendance
    • Quality
    • Productivity
    • Versatility
    • Teamwork
    • Safety

 

  • Communicate with management and assist in resolving any employee concerns.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university with 3-5 years experience in supervising within a high volume Distribution Environment..
  • Five years experience with WMS, RF and Conveyor Interface Systems is desired.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before employees of the organization.
  • Experience with MS Office Applications – Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) applications experience is preferred. Radio Frequency (RF) experience is desired

Pay Range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually plus bonus based on experience
