You will make an impact by:

  • Designing novel experiments, tests, designs, and platforms while working on non-standard technical problems with significant complexity.
  • Leading as a subject matter expert with strong expertise in mechanical design, material science, and product development
  • Influencing the technology roadmap for project component or existing therapy; accurately predicting technical project risk and identifying areas for risk mitigation.
  • Interfacing with key opinion leaders and stakeholders to create and refine designs that meet requirements including user needs, usability, and manufacturability
  • Providing strategic evaluation and guidance on R&D projects within field of expertise while driving complex design workstreams
  • Driving, evaluating, and influencing innovative solutions that support technical strategies.
  • Guiding and mentoring engineers on new and emerging technologies (e.g., Science and Technology Symposium, Edwards Faculty)
  • Advising/developing clinically relevant test methods to specify materials/components and assess novel designs and technology
  • Evaluating intellectual property, and suppliers for business development opportunities
  • Other incidental duties

What You'll Need (Basic Requirements)
Bachelor's degree in engineering or Scientific field + 12 years of experience -OR-
Master's degree in engineering or Scientific field + 11 years of experience -OR-
Ph.D. in Engineering or Scientific field + 8 years of experience of experience
What Else We Look for (Preferred Requirements)
  • Experience with design and development of a class III medical device
  • Strong technical expertise in materials and mechanical design (e.g., catheters, delivery systems, metals, injection molded components)
  • Strong proficiency in component and assembly design using SolidWorks
  • Experience assessing and developing clinically relevant test methods to evaluate device performance
  • Experience with the full R&D product development lifecycle
  • Knowledge of Agile or Scrum methodologies
  • Experience using six sigma blackbelt tools such as DOE and GR&R
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills
  • Recognized as an expert in own area within the organization
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, and concepts relevant to Engineering
  • Advanced problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to influence change
  • Knowledge of and adherence to Edwards Environmental Health and Safety and Quality guidelines as they relate to department clean room medical device manufacturing
  • Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control.

For California, the base pay range for this position is $141,000 to $200,000 (highly experienced).The pay for the successful candidate will depend on various factors (e.g., qualifications, education, prior experience).
