Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leads and supervises a team of dispensing technicians, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure optimal performance.
  • Delivers a high level of customer service both internally and externally.
  • Collaborates with other colleagues/departments to ensure effective and efficient customer service.
  • Ensures safe storage and handling of prescriptions drugs including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
  • Develops team schedules and adjusts daily assignments based on workflow.
  • Oversees inventory control and first in, first out procedures.
  • Oversees initial and ongoing training is delivered to Pharmacy Technicians and Trainees.
  • Ensures that all Pharmacy Technicians and Trainees follow established policies and procedures, including safety procedures.
  • Oversees front clerks and supervises cash drawer (s) closing.
  • Addresses and works to resolve customer conflicts/complaints. Escalates conflicts/complaints to manager as needed.
  • Reports issues and performs necessary investigations related to employee issues and escalates to manager.
  • Monitors the performance of pharmacy technicians and trainees.
  • Upholds company expectations and standards across all customer service disciplines.
  • Assists with dispensing tech and/or clerk duties when necessary.
  • Navigates multiple internal computer systems.
  • Mentors staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback as needed.
  • Fosters a culture that promotes innovation, collaboration, and professional growth that aligns with Empower's values.
  • Assists with and provides input on department headcount needs and participates in the interviewing process as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk, hear, and speak. Knowledge and Skills:
  • Thorough knowledge of Texas pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Thorough knowledge of inventory management and FIFO practices.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s pharmacy management system.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or other related software.
  • Flexible to work long hours including weekends.

Experience and Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Currently registered and in good standing with the Texas Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • 2+ years of management experience required.
  • 2+ years of pharmacy experience preferred.
