As a Transportation Dispatcher, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and optimizing the movement of goods and vehicles to ensure timely and efficient deliveries. You will be responsible for managing a fleet of drivers, tracking shipments, and communicating with drivers and clients to guarantee smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Route Planning and Optimization:
- Plan and optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency and minimize fuel costs.
- Consider factors such as traffic, weather, and road closures when planning routes.
- Driver Coordination:
- Communicate effectively with drivers to provide clear instructions and updates.
- Monitor driver progress and address any delays or issues that may arise during transportation.
- Shipment Tracking:
- Utilize tracking systems to monitor the real-time location and status of shipments.
- Provide regular updates to customers and internal stakeholders regarding shipment progress.
- Problem Resolution:
- Act quickly to resolve any issues or obstacles that may impact the timely delivery of goods.
- Collaborate with drivers, customer service, and other departments to address challenges proactively.
- Communication:
- Maintain open and clear communication channels with drivers, clients, and internal teams.
- Relay important information regarding changes in routes, schedules, or delivery instructions.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Keep accurate records of dispatch activities, including route changes, delays, and customer communication.
- Generate regular reports on key performance indicators and operational metrics.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a transportation dispatcher or in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in using transportation management systems and software.
- Familiarity with geographical locations and mapping tools.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance in the transportation industry.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional training or certification in logistics or transportation management is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
