Job Description
Plexos Group is seeking a Program Financial counselor specializing in financial resiliency to support affected residents with their Wildfire Disaster Recovery in New Mexico. The Financial Counselor is responsible for liaising with local, state, and federal program partners, collecting documentation, interfacing with residents, and support to residents in identifying resources and best practices for financial management (particularly for residents receiving disaster compensation).

Responsibilities:
- Work independently and as part of a team to support Disaster Recovery Program delivery.
- Schedule technical assistance appointments.
- Educate lay persons on compensation management including creating and implementing a budget, compensation stewardship, navigation of home purchasing, will execution, bank and credit union use and programs.
- Provide standard case management functions for residents, including through development of Disaster Recovery plans, support to applications under the plan, and guidance as the resident implements their recovery plan.
- Coordinate and facilitate workshops on financial resiliency.
- Take referrals, make cold calls, and attend outreach events.
- Develop processes and procedures to integrate resources which communicate best practices and available options for managing large amounts of compensation to residents.
- Conduct work professionally and ethically in service to the local community.

Minimum Job Requirements:
- At least 1 full year work experience in one of the following fields: banking, mortgage lending, underwriting, real estate, financial planning, or accounting. Three years’ experience and/or industry certifications or degrees (Associate’s or Bachelor’s) in one of the fields above preferred.
- Skills in: communication, coordination, facilitation, professional writing, book-keeping and financial counseling or management.
- Experience with: Federal and State government programs and/or grants preferred.
- Languages: English, bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
