Provides professional disabilities and Mental Health content area expertise to the Education and Family Services service areas. Mentors and supports teaching staff to assist them in providing comprehensive education services to all Head Start children with disabilities, Mental Health concerns, and other special needs, assisting them to develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally in a developmentally appropriate manner toward the overall goal of social competence. Ensures services support the agency's school readiness plan, in accordance with Head Start performance standards and the 2007 Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act. Position uses independent judgment to support overall school readiness for all Head Start children, as needed.
Position is 233 working days and 13 paid Holidays; a typical work week is Monday - Friday with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week.

Qualifications
- Must have a BA degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education or related field.
- Must have experience supervising in an early childhood education program and demonstrated experience working with children with disabilities.
- Have the ability to secure and maintain an agency approved and paid Mental Health certification within three months of employment.
- Bilingual Spanish-speaking is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated knowledge of child development, and disabilities and Mental Health.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, direct and coordinate operations in personnel mentoring, communications, and budget management.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Well versed in child behavior management/analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.
- Ability to write and speak the English language in a proficient and professional manner to meet requirements of the job.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, Board members, community groups, LEA's and other related agencies and people.
