The Director, Warehouse Operations is a leadership role that manages and oversees employees and processes across Regional Distribution and satellite warehouse locations for freight and inventory logistics. The position is responsible for all warehouse organization, policy and procedural management and inventory control, and management of all functions to include receiving, picking, scanning, loading, transportation, safety training and inventory management. The role will support 2 Regional Distribution Centers and 5 satellite warehouses.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, plan and coordinate all functions within Warehouse Operations
- Inventory Management and Weekly Cycle Count Procedures
- Maintain accurate bin locations by accurately recording bin transfers and movements of inventory internally and from RDC to Satellite locations.
- Prepare and execute daily dispatch to all service providers in a timely and efficient manner
- Implementation of 5S in Express Warehouse locations
- Measuring/tracking and reducing outbound defects to a minimum
- Develop/manage the Express Warehouse Safety program
- Develop written and visual standard operating procedures (including checklists) for all Warehouse Operations
- Ensure all team members comply with OSHA safety standards and harness safety culture, forklift training/compliance and racking system protocols
- Identify and resolve technical, procedural and equipment issues that hinder Warehouse Operations.
- Suggest efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assist with the implementation of changes within inbound and outbound Warehouse Operations.
- Vehicles/fleet management of Express vehicles
- Ensure the safe, clean and efficient operation of the warehouse to meet or exceed service standards
- Provide direct/indirect management of all warehouse employees
- Staff development in areas such as training, technical skills, safety, and performance management.
- Assist in recruiting/hiring/onboarding of new team members.
- Track and analyze key metrics and continuously strive to meet or exceed KPI's. Actively create action plans based on observed results. Drive high performance for key performance metrics: Inventory accuracy, warehouse productivity and optimal space utilization.
- Ensures accurate time/attendance recording and labor law compliance.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree and 7+ years (10+ years in lieu of bachelor's degree) of experience in operations, warehousing, logistics, production, manufacturing, or related field
- 5+ years prior experience managing supervisory level staff and an hourly employees
- 5+ years direct warehouse management experience
- Expertise in warehouse management procedures and best practices
- Leadership and team development abilities
- Forklift certification required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and CRM (Salesforce, MSFT, NetSuite)
- Knowledge and experience in implementing 5S procedures
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates excellent documentation skills, and adhere to all regulations
- Demonstrates excellent problem solving/issue resolution skills
- Ability to stay calm and rational under pressure
- Adheres to all policy and conduct standards and embraces the culture of Express
- Must have a high level of attention to detail and excellent time management skills
Additional Requirements:
- Up to 35% travel, limited to assigned market/regions (if applicable)
- This position requires you to have close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), and color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
- Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)
- Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
