Job Overview
As the Director of Visual Merchandising, you will be an integral part of our new store team. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and executing Visual Merchandising strategies for our new store formats that align with our brand identity and drive sales. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create impactful permanent in-store fixtures and displays that captivate our Clients and enhance their shopping experience. You will also be responsible for overseeing new store layouts, adjacencies, and developing and maintaining planograms.
Essential Functions
Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Visual Merchandising strategy that supports the overall brand and business objectives for our new stores.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and competitor activities to ensure our Visual Merchandising remains cutting-edge and relevant.
Planogram Development:
- Design, create, and maintain planograms for various product categories, considering space constraints, product attributes, and meeting sales objectives for our new stores.
- Optimize retail space utilization to maximize product visibility and accessibility. Recommend adjustments to product assortments and shelving layouts based on customer traffic and sales patterns.
- Utilize planogram software and other relevant tools to create visual representations of product displays.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Store Planning, Marketing, Retail Operations, Store Communications, and Merchandising to ensure seamless integration of Visual Merchandising strategies.
- Collaborate with Field Leadership to understand regional nuances and tailor Visual Merchandising accordingly.
Innovation:
- Drive innovation in Visual Merchandising techniques and displays to create unique and memorable Client experiences.
- Experiment with new technologies and tools to enhance the visual appeal of our products in store.
Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the CAPEX Visual Merchandising budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
- Evaluate the return on investment for new store Visual Merchandising initiatives and make data-driven decisions.
Performance Analysis:
- Monitor and analyze the performance of Visual Merchandising initiatives, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Utilize data and Client feedback to refine and optimize Visual Merchandising strategies.
Communication:
- Effectively communicate planogram changes and updates to store teams, ensuring seamless implementation.
- Provide training and support to store personnel on planogram execution standards.
- Work closely with Field leadership, store teams, and the new store opening team on store set information ensuring Visual Merchandising standards are upheld.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree welcome.
- 10+ years of experience in a senior Visual Merchandising role, preferably in beauty.
- Creative thinker with a keen eye for design and aesthetics.
- Excellent understanding of retail trends and consumer behavior.
- Budget management experience.
- Familiarity with relevant software and tools for Visual Merchandising such as Quant Retail, Relex and Blue Yonder.
- Exceptional oral and written communications skills
