A Brief Overview
The Director Valuations is responsible for preparing and/or overseeing preparation of various valuations. Both for GAAP fair value and management use. Prepares or oversee forecasts, models and analysis to support departmental efforts across a variety of areas including valuation of financial investments, private equity, real estate and operating companies. To include performance reporting and related activities using business intelligence tools. Assist with other FP&A activities such as budgeting and ad hoc analysis as needed.
What you will do
- Build/maintain financial models and forecasts inform the business. Coordinate with matrixed analysts assigned to build and maintain forecasting and/or valuation models.
- Manage outsourced service providers, including valuation firms.
- Support forecasting, planning and modeling activities of the company and its subsidiaries utilizing planning and analysis skills.
- Support quarterly reporting cycles by preparing valuations and performance reporting. Assist in preparation of Board reports.
- Collaborate with Business Units to facilitate the gathering of financial and non-financial information to support consolidated business planning and reporting.
- Provide support to the company’s accounting teams on matters related to forecasts, impairments, fair values, and public/private equity investments.
- Update and maintain financial models and reporting systems.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis in support of management decision making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field Required
- Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field Preferred
- 7+ years significant experience with valuations of asset types, especially real estate and/or operating companies. 2-3 years in a leadership role. Required
- Significant budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling experience. Preferred
- Experience in a finance/analysis role, including exposure to general accounting Preferred
- Strong financial planning and analysis experience in a complex environment Preferred
- 3-5 years experience with commercial real estate, property/asset management or private equity. Preferred
- Solid qualitative, analytical and modeling skills.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Ability to look at process and make necessary recommendations.
- Ability and desire to work in a collaborative environment, including workload prioritization.
- Expertise with Microsoft Excel is required.
- Requires a detail oriented, self-starter who takes initiative and can be a part of a team.
- Must demonstrate strong attention to detail, and demonstrate knowledge of finance concepts and processes.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and industry professionals.
- Ability and desire to work in a collaborative environment, including workload prioritization
- Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) Preferred
- Valuation Certifications: MAI, ASA, FMVA, CVA, CBA Preferred
