Essential Functions:
- Provides leadership and represents the International Center across all Tufts University schools and campuses with regard to immigration policies, ensuring development and application of consistent standards for non-immigrant and immigrant visa sponsorship of international students, scholars, and employees, especially in the areas of F-1, J-1, H-1B, and permanent residence.
- Responsible for the operation and management of International Center, including oversight of the area budget. Manages and supervises Center staff ensuring performance planning, professional development and training. Oversees other operational and personnel related matters as needed.
- Serves as Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) responsible for F-1 program management with the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), and Responsible Officer (RO) for J-1 program management with the Department of State, ensuring institutional compliance and recertification of F-1 / J-1 program eligibility. Provides training and guidance to International Center staff serving as Designated School Officials (DSOs) and Alternate Responsible Officers (AROs).
- Oversees procurement and management of systems and protocols for immigration record keeping, data collection, record retention, and statistical reporting on University’s international population.
- Works with appropriate University offices and entities, such as Advancement / Alumni relations, to foster programs and initiatives to encourage alumni support and resource development for International Center programs and services.
- Develops collaborative relationships with campus partners in designing and implementing programs to facilitate and support cultural adjustment and well-being of international students at Tufts. Advocates for the mental/physical health and cultural adjustment/well-being of students, scholars and faculty members throughout their tenure at Tufts.
What We're Looking For:
- Knowledge and skills as typically acquired through completion of Master’s Degree or equivalent
- 8-10 years of related experience
- Demonstrated Inclusion and Diversity experience; excellent cross-cultural communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in finance and budget management
- Demonstrated student affairs experience
- Strong leadership and management skills and experience
- Expertise in interpreting immigration regulations across student and employment regulatory areas
- Some evening and weekend work is required.
