Job Summary
This full-time employee is responsible for strategic direction and tactical execution of Gaia's global Supply Chain. Responsibilities include directing procurement of botanical, processed and contract manufactured materials, overseeing farm operations, leading S&OP process and all aspects of supply and demand planning. This individual ensures short-term effectiveness and long-term viability of the Supply Chain to support production operations, developing and maintaining lasting relationships with mission aligned vendors and farms, while ensuring limited negative impact on people, plants, planet, and business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads the organization's cross functional S&OP process to deliver key KPIs supporting commercial, inventory and material cost objectives.
  • Manages Demand Planner and sales forecasting process to ensure accuracy of demand plan and subsequent production and purchasing plans.
  • Oversees the Supply Planning team to ensure effective planning and scheduling of all internal production processes.
  • Oversees the Global Sourcing team to develop and maintain supply of raw materials and manufactured components from our partners worldwide. Ensures scaling capability of the Supply Chain to meet organizational growth objectives.
  • Directs the Procurement team to ensure efficient planning and purchasing of required ingredients, contract manufactured products and other materials to support production and sales requirements while meeting inventory targets.
  • Oversees Regenerative Organic Certified Farm operations to ensure effective and efficient delivery of the annual farm plan, supplying botanical raw material for production.
  • Collaborates with Innovation team to develop and execute long-term strategy with ingredient suppliers and offsite Contract Manufacturers to maintain a robust partner network with the cost structure, capacity, and capability to support commercial growth strategy.
  • Ensures company partners adhere to high standards for quality, pricing, and delivery.
  • Responsible for maintaining operational and Supply Chain related ERP (enterprise resource planning) data to ensure it drives proper solutions and accurate results. ERP data management examples include BOMs (bills of material), safety stock, purchasing/manufacturing lead times, and service rates.
  • Collaborates with Director of Operations to develop and manage the production capacity plan and ensure that supply and demand are aligned.
  • Maximizes Gaia's vertical integration to maintain quality and integrity of ingredients and financial balance of make/buy opportunities.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels to ensure stability of supply, while minimizing working capital impact.
  • Builds sustainability into the Supply Chain by ensuring materials and suppliers are following best practice with minimizing negative impact to people and planet.
  • Ensures farm, sourcing and procurement adhere to and maintain all applicable certifications for products and operations.
  • Ensures Supply Chain performance metrics are achieved for all aspects of the Supply Chain including monitoring vendor performance levels.
  • Maintains relevant industry position and relationships.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Directly manages the Global Sourcing Manager, Farm Operations Manager, Supply Planning Manager, Demand Planning Manager and Procurement Manager.
  • Ensures that employee related tasks are completed timely including time/attendance, performance reviews, corrective action, and training.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
B.S. or M.S. degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
Minimum of 8 years of progressive Supply Chain leadership experience, preferrable in the pharmaceutical, herbal, dietary supplements, or natural foods industry.
Demonstrated experience in an established S&OP process, preferably in a leadership capacity.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven leadership ability including cross functional internal teams as well as external supplier management.
Intermediate level skill with Microsoft Excel and/or relational database and reporting.
Demonstrated proficiency with ERP systems.
Detailed knowledge of interstate and international trade regulations concerning the importation and exportation of raw materials.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Advanced ability to analyze, report, translate and present data to various internal and external audience levels.
Excellent organizational skills for multi-high priority responsibilities.
Ability to adapt well to change and lead change management for their teams.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear; and taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required are to be able to view computer monitors and discern fine taxonomic differences among varying plant morphologies. May be required to lift boxes up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
The work environment involves both indoor administrative work and outdoor horticultural work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, as well as incidental contact from stinging insects, soil-borne pathogens, plant irritants, allergens, thorns, spikes, bristles, needles, etc. from handling plant material. The noise level in the work environment is usually low. Frequent travel to international and trade show locations is required up to 25% of the time.
