Job Summary This is a professional position reporting to the Sr.

Director, Media Strategy. The primary responsibility of the Director is to assist with positioning the AIA as a primary source on Social Media for information on all subjects reflecting the association's values and priorities and relating to architecture, design, building, and construction. Duties include developing Social Media Strategy and key messages for Social Media campaigns, carefully and strategically curating content from third party sources that reflect the association's priorities and promoting the overall public awareness efforts of AIA as outlined in the association's operating plan.

Job Duties: Primary focus is to direct and develop AIA's Social Media Strategy and to create community and raise visibility of AIA and its priorities, and the profession of architecture across Social Media channels. Collaborate with association departments and member communities to identify and support exposure of AIA values, priorities, programs and initiatives that advance the profession. Direct and develop messaging and content for Social Media.

Provide support for media releases, talking points, videos, infographics, and other relevant mediums as necessary. Provide guidance and strategy to outside partnership teams and building product manufacturers (BPMS) to develop Social Media strategies that are interesting to the AIA's Social Media followers. Educate and meet with onboarding and renewing BPM's to further improve their Social Media programs and content.

Advise AIA staff and partners in determining appropriate and engaging content for AIA's Social Media programs. Identify and advise ways BPMS can be successful. Advise, edit, schedule, and post all partnership content, including paid campaigns.

Provide metrics for partnership content. Strategically develop compelling content from AIA and third parties with the intent of creating an open and welcoming community to engage and grow AIA's Social Media audience for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram, including third party curated content. Provide strategic guidance for social communications regarding racial justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Advise on organic and paid Social Media content and create messaging. Collect, analyze, report, and interpret Social Media metrics to identify growing trends and threats. Share results with AIA leadership.

Place paid Social Media boosts and ads for AIA and BPM's as necessary. Apply metrics to further improve content engagement with AIA's Social Media audience. Communicate content direction to AIA departments and staff.

Influence the development of AIA program content that will perform well on AIA's Social Media channels. Regularly meet with AIA departments and staff to educate staff on effective Social Media content and evolving trends. Provide A/B testing of content on various platforms and scheduling to grow engagement on platforms.

Budgetary responsibilities for specific high-profile campaigns. Write talking points, Social Media posts, video scripts, remarks, and web page updates as needed. Produce and edit videos and podcasts as necessary.

Provide prompt responses to Social Media inquiries. Monitor and provide enhanced social listening across all platforms to identify growing trends, audience sentiment, and emerging concerns routinely throughout the week and weekends. Monitor Social Media messages to promptly identify communication threats, disinformation and misinformation, including outside of routine business hours.

With the assistance of the SVP of Marketing and Communications, and the Managing Director of Strategic Communications, develop crisis communications strategy and response for Social Media issues. Proactively work to correct misinformation. Work with outside members to further AIA's efforts to promote a welcoming and open social community environment.

Schedule and disseminate messages over Social Media platforms to promote AIA programs and activities, statements, product communications, press releases, promotions, AIA Conference on Architecture, research, position statements, as well as third party curated content, Identify and develop relationships using Social Media platforms, including connecting with members, organizations, Members of Congress, reporters and other relevant audiences. Provide coaching and message training to AIA leadership, components, and members for video and Social Media purposes. Monitor Social Media posts and daily news coverage related to the architecture profession to promote timely and relevant posts.

Ability to identify engaging content and story ideas that reflect the association's values and priorities and promote the architecture profession. Ability to develop broad Social Media Strategy that promotes AIA and the profession while understanding and navigating the volatility of the Social Media environment. Skill in prioritizing tasks and deadlines to achieve team goals and to field incoming requests from reporters with urgency.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Ability to message and write for various channels including Social Media, video scripting, talking points, websites, and media releases. Effectively works with members, the public, and news media to provide outstanding customer service.

Working knowledge of photoshop. Excellent attention to detail and meeting deadlines. Good interpersonal skills for effective relationships with department staff and architect-expert sources.

Working knowledge of videography and video editing. Bachelor's degree, preferably in journalism or communications with minimum seven years of directly related experience in media relations, public relations, or marketing consumer products and services with an emphasis on media outreach to major news organizations preferred.
