Department/Division Purpose:
The PCC Simulation Center provides opportunities for active and interactive learning that improves clinical knowledge, skills and expertise ensuring that quality patient care is provided and outcomes are optimized. The Simulation Center assists in achieving this purpose by providing a state-of-the art training environment for the students within the divisions of Medical and Behavioral Health /Health & Public Safety and for external training opportunities with area businesses.
Job Summary Statement:
This position specifically exists to plan and implement simulation training for the programs within the Medical and Behavioral Health /Health & Public Safety divisions and is responsible for the overall flow of operation in the Center. This scope of work includes design and implementation of simulation education curriculum and performance assessment outcomes. This position will also be responsible of the general business and administrative services including promotion of the Center, development of business opportunities, such as continuing education, management of budget and supervision of the Simulation Coordinator.
Job Duties
Essential Functions
Essential Task #1
Design, implement and oversee the development of simulation curricula with the appropriate faculty/staff for a variety of programs within the Medical and Behavioral Health and Health & Public Safety divisions.
  • Support the development of performance assessment outcomes for simulation training.
Essential Task #2
Work effectively with a variety of clinicians and a range of learners in designing and carrying out the simulation training programs.
Essential Task #3
Promote and organize training services to external healthcare services business partners.
Essential Task #4
Develop data collection and record keeping procedures to assess student learning and performance.
Essential Task #5
Develop and manage the fiscal operations of the Simulation Center.
Essential Task #6
Support the development of faculty/staff training in simulation.
Essential Task #7
Instruct in and assist with instructional processes with students as needed based on experience, education and training.
  • This includes running of computer, setting up the appropriate scenario based on the learning objective, and voice of simulated patient. This function requires knowledge of simulation software.
Essential Task #8
Travel off site to other PCC campuses to provide training and assist with simulation design.
This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and other functions may be added at the discretion of Pueblo Community College or the employee's supervisor. Permanently-added tasks shall be reviewed by Human Resources for appropriate position classification and compensation.
Additional Functions
  • Represents the college's health and public safety programs by communicating with the public during PCC sponsored activities.
  • Participates in program promotional activities.
  • Works independently with little supervision or as part of a team.
  • Communicates effectively with students, colleagues and others.
  • Interacts professionally and respectfully with students, colleagues and others.
  • Assesses individual and department work processes and recommends improvements.
  • Complies with System and College protocols and procedures.
  • Obtains and maintains proficiency with required systems and equipment.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student and employee information as required.
  • Completes all required compliance training within the established timeline.
  • Serves on committees and other groups as assigned.
  • Attends graduation of students.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Master's Degree or equivalent in a Health Care related field.

Licenses or Certificates:
  • Eligible for a Colorado vocational credential

Experience:
  • Five years' full-time experience in a health care related field, or higher education within a health professions department/division.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Use of computer technology including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, and organize schedules
  • Commitment to working as a team member

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
