Job DescriptionWe are looking for a highly experienced Director of Revenue Accounting to join our team. As Director of Revenue Accounting, you will play a critical role in ensuring accuracy in Revenue accounting and reporting, including accuracy of all upstream and downstream processes in revenue operations. This role requires a deep understanding of revenue recognition principles, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to influence. In this role, you will partner with our Sr. Director of Revenue Accounting & Deals Desk to deliver on the following key objectives:
- Review and assess revenue contracts and agreements to ensure they align with company policies and GAAP principles. Provide guidance on structuring deals to optimize revenue recognition while maintaining compliance.
- Establish and maintain best practices in the deal review process, ensuring consistency, thoroughness, and compliance. Implement tools and templates to streamline and standardize the review process.
- Analyze data to assess historical deal structures and their impact on revenue recognition. Identify trends and insights to drive best practices in deal structuring.
- Develop training programs to educate internal finance and sales teams on the revenue recognition implications of different deal structures. Collaborate with sales to ensure alignment between sales strategies and accounting practices.
- Partner with Deals desk, Order Management, Billing, AR, Revenue accounting, and Commissions functional leaders to drive accuracy and SOX compliance across the revenue lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain revenue recognition policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and industry-specific regulations.
- Continuously evaluate and improve Revenue Accounting processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Review work papers and help coordinate and manage internal and external audits related to revenue recognition as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as sales, legal, tax, and operations, to ensure alignment on revenue recognition policies and resolve complex accounting issues.
- Collaborate to maintain clear and organized documentation of revenue transactions, contracts, and accounting policies.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulations related to revenue recognition, and provide guidance on their impact on the organization.
Please note this is a hybrid role with onsite expectations of 3 days/ week from our San Mateo HQ.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition principles (ASC 606)
- 10+ years of experience in Revenue Accounting/ Order to Cash / Deals Desk functions in a large company with global operations required.
- Experience in presenting to executive management required.
- Outstanding communication and influencing skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

California Pay Range: $212,000 - $275,000+
Please note the above range is comprising an annual salary & incentive compensation. You may also be eligible for equity and additional company benefits.
