Position Profile:Brief Description:
The Director Finance, R&D operates as finance business partner to R&D interfacing with other members of the finance team as needed to provide the appropriate support. This position reports to the Exec Director, R&D Finance and is a senior member of the R&D Finance team within the Global Finance organisation. They will provide financial advice and support to their Business Partners and the wider RDLT teams, contributing to strategic and operational discussions and decisions.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Be a trusted adviser for Oncology Late Development Teams
- Play an active role in R&D Leadership Team meetings, providing decision support through data-driven analysis and influencing / challenging to drive to desired outcomes and efficient use of operating capital.
- Lead the finance data consolidation across the R&D and Global Product Commercialization organization.
- Pro-actively collaborate with the R&D organization to deliver financial commitments and identify / deliver strategic and growth value drivers within Oncology portfolio.
- Develop insights and recommend actions to manage any deviations from plan and ensure coherent financial analysis and alignment across functions through the identification of opportunities to invest, reduce costs, and mitigate risks.
- Work with Exec Director in building capabilities within R&D Finance Team and integrating finance support across Jazz R&D and Global Product Commercialization functions.
- Develop strong relationships with other key members of R&D and Global Finance organizations.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to support professional development of team members.
- Lead strategic initiatives within finance and R&D.
- Work in partnership with the other finance leads within:
- Tech Ops finance
- Finance reporting COE
- Finance Analysis team
- Accounting and Procurement
- Seek opportunities for continuous improvement and share best practices across R&D Finance and wider Global Finance team.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to act as a trusted advisor and develop strategic insights to drive decisions
- Demonstrated experience in Clinical Trial Forecasting
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with ability to scale and tailor information / communication styles based on customer needs / style
- Ability to understand full impact of events / decisions by “connecting the dots” and identifying patterns across the business
- Demonstrated ability to influence both up and down an organization
- Proven ability to work as part of a team.
- Proven ability to constructively challenge teams.
- Capable of working on own initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management and presentation skills.
Required/Preferred Education and Licenses
- Qualified accountant / MBA with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a finance business partnering to a life-sciences/R&D organization.
- Experience of SAP and Oracle an advantage.

For this role, the full and complete base pay range is $176,000-$264,000. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis.
At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
