Director of Process Technology sought by Klöckner Pentaplast of America, Inc. in Rural Retreat, VA, to make continuous strategical planning of KP's Process Technology development in alignment with marketing, sales, innovation, and operations, as well as the planning and management of capital and continuous improvement projects. Responsible for the technology approval of capital projects and the approval for the purchase of Process Technology-related equipment and machinery.

Essential Duties:
  • Computing and adapting a strategical technology roadmap and ensure proper planning, application, and execution of the carried projects.
  • Process planning and specification of extrusion and stretching lines based on the needs of the commercial teams and the operational structure.
  • Calculation of investment budgets for capital projects.
  • Alignment and finalization of investment budgets with the CAPEX committee.
  • Budget responsibility from accrual budget planning to cost controlling in SAP to reconciling cash flow planning with financial accounting and treasury.
  • Regular reporting on budget, project status, and risk factors to the Group Director of Engineering & Technology.
  • Selection of suppliers based on structured ABC analysis with technical and commercial criteria.
  • Determination of requirements, planning, and assignment of external services.
  • Contracting with suppliers and service providers in cooperation with the purchasing management.
  • Responsible for the commissioning of production lines and upgrades.
  • Acceptance of equipment and handover to production.
  • Responsible for meeting schedules and project resources.
  • Early detection of deviations from the project plan and initiation of appropriate countermeasures.
  • Instruction and training of employees at the new production lines.
  • Responsibility for compliance with legal requirements and the requirements of the management system for quality, environment, hygiene, safety, and energy in the respective project teams.
  • Continuously improve & optimize production processes by exploiting technical experience from manufacturing sites and machine suppliers; establish goals for implementation with plant managers.
  • Focus on increased efficiency/productivity, including improving quality through improved and consistent processes (throughput, material efficiency, energy, parameters, etc.).
  • Identify and drive best practices and standardization of product attributes within kpG.

Ability to travel, domestically and internationally, 30% to 50% of the time, with limited notice.
Telecommuting is allowed
Requires 120 months of experience in Industrial-scale plastic production. Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate. Knowledge of the following methodologies: RCFA, DoE, DMAIC, and SPC Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate.
