Job description

GSK Digital and Tech is looking for an experienced, organised, self-driven, and results-oriented technology portfolio manager to lead delivery of GP&T (Global Products & Technology) Connectivity products/services. Connectivity technologies include networks (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, etc.), Perimeter (Firewall), Edge technologies (eg. SASE).
In this role, you will lead the Connectivity portfolio projects and programs that span multiple stakeholders, including product owners, engineers, operators, compliance specialists, finance and legal partners, and others. You will build bridges among these stakeholders to communicate visions and objectives, define project plans, align resources and priorities, and drive the delivery of innovative solutions to support the GSK business. Additionally, as an organization we are driving to a more agile methodology, so work with key stakeholders to migrate where feasible.
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Manage the £20m+ portfolio of connectivity projects and programmes.
  • Provide financial management and oversight of the portfolio spend.
  • Work with appropriate leaders and project sponsors to understand the requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate resource allocation and onboarding supplementary resources via Strategic Partners for support of global work packages.
  • Lead a global matrix team (US, UK, India & Poland) consisting of both employees and contingent workers to deliver solutions and processes in support of project objectives and requirements - leading the project team and motivating all team members with clear direction and communication.
  • Manage the project plans, budget, risks and issues, calling out to senior management when appropriate.
  • Identify and actively monitor delivery of external dependencies.
  • Define the deployment strategy and prepare and complete the project plan - ensuring the project solution is transitioned to full support post delivery.
  • Work closely with other GSK Tech groups to ensure adequate resources are deployed to ensure delivery.
  • Collaborate with GP&T product owners to identify appropriate resourcing plans, leveraging both internal resources and contracting with strategic partners to deliver defined deliverables.
  • Ensure effective communications planning, leadership identification and engagement, regular status reporting to key business leaders, both within GP&T (internal) and with the appropriate programme (customer).
  • Build close working relationships with customers, engineering teams and relevant business contacts to ensure i: confidence is built and maintained, ii: all parties are informed and engaged during the project, and iii: the solution supports the GP&T adoption by new markets and delivers maximum benefit.
  • Establish strategic direction in assigned area, by influencing and negotiating successful outcomes with senior leaders inside and outside of GP&T (at SVP, VP and Tech LT levels).
  • Recommend and manage intelligent risk taking, with high transparency and with a clear willingness to be held accountable.
  • Support leadership address high risk, high impact situations with clear analysis, high transparency and a sense of partnership, even if faced with significant adversity or major obstacles.
  • Active participant in delivering our culture to get ahead of disease together.

Why you?
Basic Qualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or similar
  • 8+ years of experience delivering infrastructure related projects in large scale global Life Sciences, healthcare or financial industry, or other highly regulated environments.
  • 8+ years of experience managing project schedules, finances, risks and issues.
  • Project governance and experience with Agile standards and procedures, as evidenced by certification or equivalent experience in Project Management or Agile Training Curriculum such as SAFe, PMI, PMP.
  • 8 years or more experience of financial management/tracking of multiple project budgets.

Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • 8+ years or more experience delivering complex projects/programmes or acting as a SAFe Release Train Engineer for initiatives/projects related to connectivity infrastructure; specifically, networks (LAN, WAN, WiFi etc), and perimeter (eg. Firewalls).
  • 8 years or more experience of managing global matrix teams and influencing senior leaders.
  • Ability to quickly grasp technical topics, particularly in the end user space in sufficient detail to effectively communicate with customers and Tech delivery teams.
  • High tenacity in resolving and removing strategic obstructions and difficulties, so as to achieve the best strategic results in a timely manner.
  • Ability and willingness to be flexible, adapting to the demands of the customers.
  • Technical knowledge to understand projects and trade-off choice.
  • Close attention to detail.
  • Project/Programme management certification.
  • SAFe Certification.
  • Lean Six Sigma belt.
