Accountabilities / Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President, HR Service Delivery, the Director, Payroll Operations possess extensive experience in all aspects of payroll management including day-to-day operations, oversight, process reengineering, project management, payroll tax, deferred compensation plans, benefit plans, internal/external audit, and understanding of multiple applications. This individual must have the ability to maintain the payroll department as a first-class organization that provides strategic value to the company while maintaining full compliance, strong internal controls and scalability to accommodate future growth.

Responsibilities
:

  • Maintain Payroll Operations as highly reliable, predictable in outcomes, and low cost to SCA Health Partnerships.
  • Responsible for oversight of payroll administration and taxes in a multi-state environment processing payroll for 12,000+ teammates and rapidly growing.
  • Maintain enterprise compliance with payroll-related federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Support and maintain effective internal controls for the payroll function.
  • Resolve issues by providing root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) for all non-routine situations.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing, continuous improvement in accuracy, process efficiency, and adherence to established service level agreements.
  • Standardize and scale payroll operations through the use of best practices to provide best-in-class services while ensuring readiness for organization growth.
  • Manage staff within supervisor hierarchy to accomplish results through training, development, performance management, and recognition.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships and regular ongoing communications and collaboration with Centers of Service, HR Business Partners, HR Technology, Accounting, Finance, Operations, Legal, Corporate Tax, and other key partners within the organization.
  • Develop strong relationships with key vendors.
  • Establish internal service level agreements, key metrics and ongoing performance reporting.
  • Serve as point person regarding requirements and government reporting regulations affecting payroll and payroll tax, including audit oversight.
  • Interpret company policies affecting payroll procedures and recommend enhancements as needed.
  • Support acquisition initiatives related to payroll and employee integration including pre-integration training and post-integration white glove service.
  • Provide ongoing training to SCA Health leaders and teammates on Payroll Operations best practices.
  • Ensure payroll transactions are properly classified and in compliance with general accounting principles and audit requirements.
  • Ensure proper recording of Stock and RSU transactions from UHG.
  • Position includes duties relating to administering bonuses, termination of benefits, contribution calculations, employee benefits premiums, and 401(K) benefits.
  • Maintaining vendor relationships and necessary purchases (timekeeping/payroll software / 401K / benefits third-party administrators)
  • Provide reporting and analysis of payroll data as requested from accounting, finance, and other SCA leadership.
  • Work closely with SCA corporate accounting to provide critical payroll information necessary for month end close.
  • Collaborate with benefits TPA, 401K provider, and the SCA benefits team to ensure pay period, month, and annual process are in order related to the SCA payroll system.
  • Seek opportunities for improvement and problem-solve customer issues by evaluating and improving payroll processes.
  • Maintain effective relationships with key internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Supports HR initiatives by providing a strategic bird’s-eye-view and completing tactical and administrative activities.
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
  • BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, HR or other business fields preferred

Work Experience
:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in payroll or financial operations
  • Prior experience leading a team
Travel:
  • About 4-5 times per year to other SCA business offices, annual meetings, and team meetings

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks with hard deadlines simultaneously.

  • Strong understanding of how to build efficient payroll processes using best practices.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.

Min: USD $145,000.00/Yr. Max: USD $185,000.00/Yr.
