DIRECTOR OF YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMS 

Job Category:  Children & Youth Programs 

Job Status:  Full-time 

Reports to: Vice President of Children & Youth Programs 

  

Job Summary: The Director ofYouth & Young Adult Programs provides leadership & management for the Community Connections YouThrive (CCYT) program. CCYT targets foster youth, ages 17-26, as they transition from foster care to independence as adults, connecting them to community-based resources. This position ensures the program has the proper controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively operate.  

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Administrative Leadership & Management 

  • Supervise CCYT program managers in both MO and KS. Supervision includes individual supervisory conferences, support, completion of probationary/annual employee evaluations, and workload adjustments.  Provide opportunities for in-person supervision at the various FAC branch offices. 
  • Ensure program operates to deliver positive client outcomes; make program improvements 
  • Proficiency using SAM database, including the creation/application of reports
  • Complete program & funding reports, review client file audits/documentation of staff
  • Responsible for department employee satisfaction and teamwork
  • Responsible for identifying the training & professional needs of staff, in collaboration with the training department
  • Strong, open communication with direct supervisor
  • Travel required, with or without accommodation, to attend and/or present in-service training (i.e. child welfare conferences).  Make community connections to increase program referrals.
  • Actively participate in all leadership meetings. 
  • Able to work with a diverse team to serve clients
  • Contribute on an organizational level with a focus on agency culture, cultural competency, and performance improvement outcomes.

Outcome Planning/Program Quality Improvement (PQI) 

  • Measure effectiveness of the program, both internal and external
  • Implement/lead quality improvement process throughout the program, focusing on improvement and personnel growth  
  • Participate in client audit reviews; making updates/changes accordingly
  • Evaluate and implement points of service improvement
  • Track program outcomes and data

Financial Management 

  • Ensure budget performance for program services are sound and meet budget expectations
  • Provide required information for LINC state contracted billing, DCF Status Report, on time  
  • Manage within approved budget, and report progress & challenges encountered to supervisor and CFO
  • Monitor/approve client assistance requests. Ensure all documentation is collected according to grant requirements
  • Assist with grant planning and execution
  • Participate in annual budget planning along with supervisor and CFO

Strategic Planning 

  • Provide input in strategic & operational planning, evaluation, and positioning within FAC
  • Assist with the agenda & development of growth strategies for FAC

Qualifications & Preferred Skills 

  • BA/BS (preferred) in social work, psychology, public administration, or related human services & 3+ years working in non-profit social service agencies with 4+ years of management experience
  • Previous experience working with at-risk teen population required; lived experience preferred
  • Core understanding of child welfare practice/policy preferred
  • Core understanding of program development, implementation, & evaluation
  • Resourcefulness in setting priorities, creating efficiencies, & guiding investment in people/systems
  • Commitment to the principles of support/advocacy for youth, Young Adults, & families
  • Leadership ability, team management, & interpersonal skills.  Ability to establish rapport & build trust with clients/staff, plus ability to train  those supervised
  • Model ethical and professional behavior
