POSITION PURPOSE
Under the general supervision of the Executive Director, Director of Youth Programs manages the day to day operations of all Youth Programs such as Soccer For Success, Watershed Education by Bike, Boys & Girls Volleyball, Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) and all summer programs (Safe Places to Play and various camps).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Hires, trains and manages associated staff and volunteers to meet deliverables of grants and contracts
  • Engages and cultivates key internal and external relationships, and creates and implements sustainable improvement plans
  • Assists with forecasting the departmental finance needs in accordance with the Association goals and priorities, and ensures that all programs are managed to exceed compliance and risk management expectations
  • Schedules and coordinates classes/activity sessions, programs, and special events; ensures appropriate staff assignments and support
  • Lead the planning and development of Camden Y programs and acts as a key leadership team member in Youth Development for our Y
  • Supervises and evaluates the performance of program staff and volunteers.
  • Communicates with parent/clients and regarding any concerns, suggestions, comments
  • Develops and maintains community and organizational collaborations and partnership to advance the mission and programs assigned.
  • Supports, demonstrates, and implements the YMCA mission and Core Values
  • Ensure related program and facility/equipment compliance with safety, risk management and accreditation/licensing standards. Maintain records for inspections and staff certifications. Maintain current associated certifications and training, and remain current on applicable laws and standards.
  • Schedules and coordinates all related program activities and facilities. Ensures appropriate staff receive assignments and support. Directly lead programs and teach classes as needed
  • Leads the planning and carry out the development of all assigned programs to reflect the goals and objectives set by the Executive Director and the mission of the YMCA
  • Maintains supplies and equipment inventory for related programs.
  • Be actively involved in the local community and the YMCA community through trainings and volunteering or serving as a member of related organizations to further professional development and networking.
  • Maintains knowledge of Association policies and procedures, risk management, safety practices and applicable laws
  • Assists other departments and serve on Association task groups as needed
  • Leads by example at all times. Provides leadership in developing partnerships with community organizations to create awareness and understanding of the programs offered by Camden YMCA.
  • Interact with a high level of professionalism and accountability.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree required or Master's degree (preferred)
  • 5 years of experience working with youth and adults with a variety of needs and abilities
  • Thorough understanding and appreciation of child and adolescent development and ability to design and implement programs, policies and protocols to support that development
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles and meet the safe driving requirements of the association.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High energy and creativity with a strong grasp of the YMCA mission
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills; possess a passion for member service, building and maintaining a culture of member service excellence
