OVERVIEW & QUALIFICATIONS 

Michael Kinder and Sons, a fourth-generation family-owned Plan -Design-Build Construction Firm is seeking an experienced Director ofWarehouse & Equipment Fleet Operations. MKS warehouse-shop will become a separate corporation that will run at its own profit center. This role will manage, lead, and take full ownership of this business under the direct report of ownership. They will be responsible for leading, managing and accountability for all aspects of our purchasing and warehouse operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective procurement of goods and materials while maintaining optimal inventory needs.

 

This position is responsible for the following duties which include but may not be limited to:


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Give leadership and direction of all functions of the MKS Purchasing and Warehouse team.
  • Coordinate fulfillment of project specific materials and equipment requisitions.
  • Maintain schedules for all warehouse and shop.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, including receiving, storing, and distribution of materials.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive purchasing strategy aligned with organization goals and objectives.
  • Provide purchasing guidance and assistance to Project Management and Field personnel as needed to maximize efficiency and budget.
  • Improve efficiency via timely material and equipment deliveries, innovations and economical, purchasing, storage, equipment, and tool maintenance-repair, and tracking strategies.
  • Develop and manage waste reduction and recycling program.
  • Participation in Safety Program to include Equipment training and certification, Respirator fit testing, and a permanent member of the Safety and Risk Management Committee.
  • Monitor market trends, identify potential suppliers, and assess their capabilities and reliability.
  • Oversee procurement activities including pre-qualification, negotiating supplier agreements, preparation of contracts and tender management.
  • Liaising with key company employees to determine their product and service needs.
  • Communication as needed to support operations along with field communication.
  • Develop and manage equipment and tool maintenance program and costs.
  • Determine small tool purchase needs on a regular basis and monitor budget.
  • Analyze rent vs. own for all owned and frequently rented equipment and make recommendations with relevant information to leadership team for purchase or rental of company vehicles and equipment.
  • Track rental equipment and invoice for use of equipment used on jobs on a monthly basis.
  • Research and develop Fleet program with 3rd parties for equipment and vehicle purchasing, lease, rent, etc.
  • Establish company-owned vehicle-major equipment GPS tracking system.
  • Oversee company-owned vehicle-equipment and tool maintenance and monitor repair costs.
  • Identifying areas for improvement to continually drive performance and business results.
  • Managing overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of procurement for the organization.
  • Manage exterior building and ground maintenance – building, yard, landscape, snow removal, etc.
  • Implement best practices to optimize warehouse efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement and maintain tool tracking software for warehouse and field inventory.
  • Manage all warehouse material inventory and replenish on a regular basis.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage departmental budget, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and warehouse operations.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or efficiency.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of supply chain.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks within the supply chain.
  • Manage policy and procedures for order fulfillment.
  • Maintain and manage office files for warehouse-shop and yard.
  • Organize storage sheds, yard, and warehouse for the most efficient use.
  • Lead weekly team meetings (Level 10’s).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Education | bachelor’s degree in business, or related field preferred
  • Proven experience in purchasing and warehouse management, with a minimum of 5 years in a management role
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of tools and materials
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices
  • Familiarity with relevant software and technologies for inventory and procurement management (Tool Ops software knowledge preferred but not required)
